Job Overview




The Director of Human Resources (HR) is responsible for the operations of the department, designing and implementing HR programs in alignment with the organization's strategy and culture. The director is a key contributor to the achievement of the talent strategy, ensuring the HR department drives the attraction, engagement, and retention of the right talent for success.

Role



Manages the human resources team, overseeing the allocation of work and performance against goals. Provides feedback, coaching, and mentoring, drives employee development, and performs additional people management activities. Works with talent acquisition team hiring efforts. Leads the design and delivery of HR policies, programs, and procedures to align the workforce with the talent strategy and organizational culture. Remains up to date on HR best practices and industry trends in order to identify opportunities for improvement. Participates in strategic planning activities with the VP, Human Resources, providing concise recommendations based on research, metrics, and organizational factors. Provides input and oversees annual budget expenditures and resource requirements. Identifies, monitors, and analyzes HR metrics to measure trends and progress against strategic goal accomplishment. Uses data to make business cases to senior management and to identify when changes or modifications to HR programs or projects are necessary. Negotiates and manages complex dispute resolution, handling confidential issues professionally and appropriately in accordance with relevant legislation. Lead a team of integrated HR Professionals supporting all functions of HR. Act as a resource to all levels of management, ensuring appropriate action is taken with respect to a wide variety of issues that support the Credit Union's strategic plan, including but not limitedto:collective agreement and labourlaw interpretation, progressive disciplineand termination, human rights complaints, workplace harassment investigations, mediation of workplace conflicts, employee conduct issues, and managementadvisoryissues in general. Develop strong relationships with third parties and manage vendor performance against contractual agreements. Foster constructive and cooperative working relationships with the unions; support the grievance process, dispute resolution and participate in Joint Labour Management Committee meetings. Keep abreast of legislative changes and trends. Utilize an organized, proactive and strategic approach to deliver functional programs and initiatives to enhance all aspects of Human Resources Provide input into the development of the Human Resources Strategic Plan and support its execution. Take ownership of team projects from planning to execution and represent Human Resources on company projects as required. Support the fiscal departmental budget submissions and ensure budget is adhered to. Ensure all Human Resources policies and procedures are current and legally compliant. Increase the use of Human Resources technology to achieve business outcomes and streamline labour intensive tasks. Provide sound advice on workplace policiesprocedures and share knowledge appropriately on applicable legislation including but not limited to the ESA, LRA, Ontario Human Rights Code and AODA, as required. Consider healthsafety as a primary concern to ensure the overall well-being of your team and members Perform other duties as required

Required Skills



Have a post-secondary diploma or degree in a field related to Human Resources Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience Have a minimum of eight (8) to twelve (12) years progressive experience in a generalist capacity with a focus on labour relations Be a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) Three (3) years of people leadership experience Exceptional interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills Able to identify opportunities and offer solutions for change and/or improvement High degree of confidentiality and professional judgment in dealing with sensitive information Have the flexibility to travel within our branch network Be proficient in MS Office and other software programs

This role has a hybrid working arrangement at our corporate office in Stoney Creek.
