for Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals Canada Inc. is a strategic partner to the General Manager of the Canadian Affiliate and the Ipsen Canada Leadership Team members and is responsible for the full-cycle HR activities. In partnering with Canadian leadership, management, and employees, he/she drives strategic and operational HR excellence in a growing, transforming business. In addition, he/she is responsible for enhancing company culture to achieve high levels of employee engagement and wellness while ensuring that Canadian HR policies, procedures, and processes are in place and are in alignment with Canadian legislative requirements.
The Director, Human Resources is a member of both the Ipsen Canada Leadership Team in Mississauga, ON and the North American (NA) HR team based in Cambridge, MA, US.
Main Responsibilities & Job Expectations
Work closely with the General Manager and Ipsen Canada Leadership Team (ICLT), accountable to develop and execute HR strategies to achieve and maintain high levels of employee engagement and a performance-driven culture.
Lead HR processes for Canada, including performance management, talent management, succession planning, development planning (including ICLT members), performance management, annual merit and benefits.
Provide guidance and coaching to Canadian leaders and managers on people matters related to HR policies and practices, workforce planning and headcount management, talent management, employee relations, compensation, professional development, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement.
Oversee all HR operational activities in Canada, including day-to-day employee queries, on/offboarding, employee engagement activities, policy training, and wellness initiatives, etc.
In partnership with the NA Employee Relations oversee the investigations and facilitates the resolution of employee complaints.
Lead and execute key HR Canada initiatives and projects aligned to the organizational strategic imperatives and goals.
Oversee diversity and inclusion initiatives in Canada, in alignment with the NA strategy
Partner with the NA Compensation and Benefits team to oversee, administer and maintain employee benefits and compensation programs, including benefit renewal, annual merit and compensation processes, communications to employees, with a goal of ensuring Canadian offerings are competitive and implemented with excellence.
Partner with the NA Talent Acquisition Team to recruit and attract top talent, including working with the managers to define strategic staffing plans.
Maintains current knowledge and understanding of regulations, laws, industry trends, practices, and developments in Human Resources.
Identify, create, maintain and implement Canadian HR policies, procedures, and processes to meet legislative requirements and effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the HR functions.

Member of the ICLT, which collectively has an organizational responsibility to set the tone and vision for the organization, oversees and approves the organizational and brand strategies, embeds a culture of people development and employee engagement, and is accountable for achieving all corporate and local strategic objectives.
Manages relationships and contract processes with external vendors and contractors as required.
Complies with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen Canadian & U.S. staff
Knowledge, Abilities & Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent, Masters preferred, CHRP/CHRL designation is preferred
At least 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience, with at least 7 years of pharmaceutical/biotech/healthcare experience
Previous experience in a HR Business Partner (HRBP) role required
Experience in developing strong relationships through establishing trust and credibility with colleagues.
Proven track record of decision-making abilities; ability to make decisions logically, methodically, and quickly.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing across all levels of the organization; sound public speaking skills.
Strategic leadership and dispute resolution skills
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
Thorough knowledge of the Canadian HR environment and employment-related laws/regulations
