Job Title Director, Functions Finance - CAO and Corporate Expenditures


















  • Provides proactive advice to executives/senior management on business performance, cost trends, early warnings and savings opportunities.
  • Proactively oversee the monitoring, analysis and reporting of financial trends relative to business volumes, economic factors, accounting changes, drivers, strategic direction and initiatives. Involves providing timely information to/for the use of oversight committees.
  • Develop and lead a team of professionals with the skills required to deliver on the mandate of the role, ensuring appropriate succession planning, employee development and engagement.
  • Support the Cost Allocation Framework by establishing, and maintaining a methodology for recovery and communication of costs.
  • In partnership with Corporate Support Finance Control Team, assess, communicate and implement accounting changes; and, ensure the integrity, accuracy, completeness of financial information.
  • Proactively support the finance and business transformations.
  • Work in a collaborative environment with finance colleagues to foster a more complete end to end understanding of the functions allocated costs
  • Provide insightful and actionable finance advice.
  • Actively look for streamlining opportunities and low value activities that can be discontinued
Must Have
  • CA, CMA, CGA, MBA or equivalent with 10+ years work experience gained through a varied working career including positions in numerous facets of RBC or another financial institution
  • Excellent financial/analytical, communication (oral & written) and interpersonal skills in order to establish strong relationships at all levels across the enterprise, with a particular focus on senior executive communication / advice
  • Strong focus on controls
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively in a matrix model and leverage global resources to achieve objectives.
  • Strong people management skills with focus on ability to organize lead and motivate team
  • Solid knowledge/previous experience in financial reporting/analysis and expense/cost management
  • Proven planning, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to deal with competing priorities and tight deadlines



















Job Summary The Director, Functions Finance provides financial and strategic advice and analysis to CAO Group and Office of CEO & Corporate Expenditures to improve financial performance and the quality of business decisions for operating costs. The Director is responsible for coordinating planning, forecasting, financial reporting and disclosures. This includes ensuring strong controls and governance are established and maintained and that all accounting changes are effectively implemented. They will also be responsible for supporting the business in providing advice on the allocation of costs to the various business platforms and for proactively leading, maintaining and supporting the cost allocation framework.
