Position Summary



Director, Financial Planning & Analysis

Reporting to the VP Finance, Data Analytics and CFO, the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis plays a crucial role in guiding NYGH's financial strategy, business planning, and resource allocation. Leading a team of financial professionals, the Director delivers financial expertise and analysis to operational portfolios across NYGH and partnerships the hospital supports. Working closely with senior leadership, the Director ensures financial sustainability by overseeing multi-year corporate financial planning, forecasting, operational and capital budget development. The Director also provides critical financial insights and reporting to the Senior Executive Team, Board of Directors, and Ministry of Health relating to the implementation of several strategic projects, including but not limited to, the planned Seniors Care Centre and New Patient Care Tower. This position supports the hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

On a practical level, you will



Provide leadership to the Financial Planning team, coaching and mentoring to enhance their knowledge, experience and skills in order to better support program areas across the hospital Provide support for the continued development of a best-in-class customer service model, enabling a broad range of services leaders across the organization to attain their goals Provide leadership and coordination of annual operational and capital budget process, from planning and development of assumptions to setting targets for all programs and services Oversee portfolio performance monitoring, evaluation and forecasting analysis through monthly variance reporting, periodic analysis and support of the Corporate Results Review Committee. Provide advice to individual Vice Presidents, Directors and other managers in the development of business plans supporting program change, growth initiatives and capital purchases Develop meaningful commentary and insight in support of communications and presentations to fulfill senior management, Board and Committee requirements Provide leadership and advice on revenue collection and revenue generating initiatives Ensure all leaders are well informed of the Hospital and Long-Term Care funding methodology and potential opportunities to maximize funding Oversee the implementation of case costing and benchmarking initiatives to support performance improvement Provide leadership for the hospital's capital budgeting and oversee capital project reporting Support a range of corporate strategic projects and initiatives of the hospital related to capacity building, care improvement projects, capital redevelopment and other strategic endeavors Work collaboratively with the Director, Finance to optimize financial systems output and develop plans for upgrades and improvements to improve reporting and decision making Work collaboratively with the Director, Data Governance and Analytics in the development of innovative technologies and processes to enhance data capture, processing, and reporting

Qualifications



Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Health Administration Registration in good standing as a Chartered Professional Accountant preferred Minimum 10 years of relevant progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting Experience with budgeting, case costing and Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards Strong understanding of hospital funding policies and the ability to assess impact on hospital operations Experience with financial aspects of Ministry / IO construction processes a definite asset Ability to summarize and communicate detailed data into actionable recommendations Ability to effectively partner with peer Directors to ensure measurement of performance and accountability Ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously Creative thinking and superior analytical skills with a bias for action Bilingualism in French/English an asset
