The Department of Natural Resources and Indigenous Futures is looking for a Director of Financial and Administrative services.


Conditions of Employment:


Must be legally entitled to work in Canada Requires in-province overnight travel several times per year.

Qualifications:


Essential:


Professional accounting designation, or combination of education and extensive knowledge and experience in accounting and budgeting, financial management, analysis and comptrollership. Experience in financial forecasting with the ability to estimate expenditures and develop budget options. Experience implementing and/or overseeing a comptrollership framework within an organization. Experience interpreting, developing and implementing accounting and administrative policies, procedures and directives. Proven ability as a leader with a commitment to create, support and sustain a diverse environment that enables staff to achieve results and to develop for the future. Management experience with responsibility for human resources (ie. performance management, recruitment, employee development, coaching and mentoring). Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to anticipate impacts to internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to leverage opportunities for innovation, find creative solutions to issues, and successfully manage change. Excellent verbal communication skills engaging with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent written communication skills preparing complex documents for senior level management. Political acumen demonstrated through experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders on complex topics and sensitive issues.



Desired:
Experience building relationships with Indigenous people and implementing the principles of reconciliation.

Duties:


The Department of Natural Resources and Indigenous Futures is looking for a Director of Financial and Administrative services. As a member of the department's management team, the Director is responsible to lead and manage the Financial and Administrative Services branch and provide critical advice and support to the Assistant Deputy Minister / Executive Financial Officer and the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Indigenous Futures. This position oversees planning, coordination and evaluation of all financial management and comptrollership systems. Also, oversees the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures and provides advice to the department's executive and senior management regarding financial, accounting or comptrollership advise.
