Reporting to the CEO, the Director, Finance leads the finance functions and is a member of the executive team. In addition to the traditional financial accounting, reporting, budgeting and treasury functions, the Director, Finance will play an increasing role in formulating and executing the strategic growth plan and works with cross-functional leaders to offer operational guidance, ensure effective compliance and provide financial clarity to evaluate future decisions. Major areas of responsibility include:

Financial Reporting, Planning & Analysis and Taxation:

  • Lead the day to day accounting functions including payroll, the monthly financial reporting process along with financial regulatory deliverables, and annual audits
  • Manage daily banking and treasury functions to ensure seamless business operation
  • Oversee the financial internal control environment to ensure ongoing control effectiveness
  • Monitor key financial metrics including risk-adjusted capital (RAC) reserve to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Manage annual financial and regulatory audit process
  • Lead the annual budgeting process
  • Develop effective financial models and analyses in evaluating strategic opportunities including new business lines and product developments
  • Evaluate and execute on M&A opportunities as they arise
  • Manage taxation compliance
Relations with Investors and Other Stakeholders:
  • Prepare, review and deliver management presentations and updates to potential/existing investors
  • Manage ongoing relationship with bank and negotiate terms as necessary
  • Work with legal counsel on corporate securities matters
  • Oversee insurance programs to ensure effective risk management
Strategic Plan Development:
  • Work with the Executive Team in setting strategic objectives
  • Develop and implement effective financial plans to meet organization goals and objectives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with senior leadership to drive strategic and operational priorities
  • Develop and implement KPIs for effective performance management of quarterly and annual objectives
  • Communicate financial matters with senior management and the Board

Job Requirements:

Required background/skills:
  • CPA designation with several years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong leadership skills and supervisory experience of other professionals
  • Knowledge and experience in GAAP and IFRS
  • Self-starter who thrives in a dynamic and innovative environment
  • Great team player with excellent communication skills
  • A curious and inquisitive mindset
  • Knowledge and experience in the financial services sector is a strong asset
