Job Description

Our nationally recognized client located in central Ottawa is looking for a Director of Finance & Operations to join their progressive, people & culture-first organization on a full-time, permanent basis.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Management of General Ledger and related accounting duties
  • Financial reporting and production of financial statements- prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports while ensuring accuracy
  • Assisting in the coordination and preparation of budget and financial forecasts as well as analyze variances on projects
  • Oversee project management cycle, including cash flow management of project-based financials
  • Working closely with donors and government grants
  • Processing payroll, HST remittances, WSIB- collect and validate payroll inputs (hours, premiums, allowances)
  • Benefits & Pension Administration for all eligible employees
  • Submission of tax remittances
  • Coordination and preparation of budget and financial forecasts, institute and maintain planning and control procedures and analyze report variances
  • Preparing Month and Year End closing, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation
  • Liaising with auditors, take an active role in internal and external Audit, providing required reporting
  • Provide representation and work directly with the union on all matters
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors, providing insight on financial matters
  • Build and promote strong relationships with funders, partners, and community while representing the core values of the organization
  • Ensuring financial compliance as well as implementation of process improvements, monitoring for accurate and successful execution
  • Ensuring operational compliance for hiring & onboarding as well as building facilities
  • Provide contributions and recommendations regarding financial and operational aspects of the organization, communicating with Senior Management on strategic initiatives
  • Oversee and provide support to Accounting, HR, and IT Coordinators
  • Participate in other active projects and ad hoc reporting as needed
About You
The successful candidate will have the following:
  • Completed education in Finance, Business Administration, or an equivalent stream
  • 5+ years of experience in Accounting & Finance in a Senior role
  • Previous experience in the Not-for-Profit sector
  • Previous experience dealing with government funding
  • Proficient with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel
  • Strong oral, written, and communication skills (English essential)
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized, strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, self-starter, collaborative
About the Job
The salary band for this role is $100,000 to $115,000 depending on relevant previous experience.
