Position Summary

The Director ensures the JSGS embodies an evidence-based Whole-Career professional training model, expands and deepens its impact within Saskatchewan and Canada, and achieves a sustainable and entrepreneurial professional One School approach.

The position will be informed in fulfilling the responsibilities of the JSGS\'s Mission, Vision, Principles, Values, and Strategic Plans.

The Director fully participates in the JSGS\'s planning process and may act as the Executive Director\'s delegate if necessary. The Director provides leadership to Executives in Residence and Executive Education staff as a member of JSGS\'s executive and leadership teams; promotes positive relations internally and externally, primarily with the Government of Saskatchewan and other levels of government; collaborates with diverse communities and stakeholders requiring an awareness of and sensitivity to issues around Indigenization, diversity and inclusion; and identifies and pursues opportunities to support and enhance the JSGS\'s long-term growth and success.

The Director functions in a highly demanding environment that requires constant scanning for issues and challenges against multiple priorities and demands on limited resources. The work is of high volume and is complex where decisions ranging from the mundane to critical are required on a routine basis.

In consultation with the Executive Director, the Director is responsible for determining the nature and extent of the Executive Education activities that are engaged during the year.

Secondment arrangements will be considered.
Position Requirements

  • A Master\'s Degree or other applicable education with relevance to the public sector.
  • Recent high-level leadership experience in public policy and demonstrated success in developing and implementing a vision and leading people to achieve exemplary performance and outcomes.
  • A high level of proficiency in personal effectiveness and relationship building competences.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders is required. Must possess knowledge and understanding of issues, including cultural, socio-economic and other factors
affecting Indigenous peoples and an awareness that Indigenous engagement is a strategic priority.
at the University and JSGS. * A strong record of engagement or practice in or with, the professional public service.
  • Experience in the Saskatchewan public sector context is a strong asset.

The Director is a person of integrity and character, whose values are in alignment with both University\'s core values and vision. The successful candidate will be results oriented completing objectives within the framework defined by JSGS plans and policies.

You will have demonstrated ability to initiate, implement and support innovation and institutional change and enhance programs and services. As well as an ability to reflect, clarify and commit to what is important, take responsibility for growth and development and contribute to positive and productive work and learning environments.

Demonstrated ability to lead an inclusive work environment through a commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity of experience and resources is a must. As well as the ability to convey information and ideas to individuals in a manner that engages the audience and assists them in understanding, retaining and responding to the message.

A demonstrated ability to develop the rapport necessary to build, maintain and/or strengthen partnerships and relationships inside and outside of the University is essential.
