Closing Date: June 27, 2024Position SummaryThe Director of Epic Support at UHN Digital oversees a team managing Epic Health Information System applications critical to UHN's operations. They ensure optimal performance, reliability, and user experience of Epic applications, collaborating with senior Digital leadership to develop digital software architecture standards. Reporting to the Executive Director of IT Operations, they translate and contribute to the overall digital delivery vision, maintaining strong relationships with clinical, research, and administrative stakeholders. The role involves establishing SOPs and SLAs for Epic HIS support, managing budgets, and working independently to improve Epic HIS systems within organizational constraints. Broad familiarity with Epic HIS functionalities and workflows are essential for success in this role.Duties

  • Leadership and Development: Directly oversee all Managers of Epic HIS Applications, providing mentorship and career development.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure teams deliver 24/7 operational support for Epic HIS applications, collaborating closely with the Director of Epic Product Management
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Attend key meetings in clinical and business areas to shape demands and future visions enabled through Epic HIS.
  • Domain Expertise: Possess sufficient expertise to cover gaps in team management effectively within the Epic HIS domain.
  • Strategy Formulation: Accountable for developing strategies for safe and effective Epic HIS delivery and support in alignment with the broader hospitals strategic plan within the constraints of available resources
  • Standards Development: Create, maintain and ensure compliancy to Digital standards for Epic HIS support, including code development, repository management, and change control.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree or equivalent and demonstrable work experience.
  • 6+ years of on-the-job experience managing teams.
  • Over 6 years of practical HIS support and related experience.
  • Demonstrated proficient communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated organization/time management skills.
  • You have excellent judgment, defensible decision-making and discretion.
  • Ability to create and manage policies for the organizations.
  • Ability to manage complex business relationships across multiple departments.
  • Deep understanding of Epic and its structure, configuration and modules. Certification in one or more areas desirable.
