Job Title Director, Corporate Support Platform Financial Control



What is the opportunity?

This is a key leadership role within the Corporate Support Financial Control team reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Support Financial Control. You will be responsible for managing a team to ensure appropriate governance and controls are in place to support the accuracy and completeness of the Corporate Support balance sheet and income statement, and provide accounting interpretation, guidance and advice on transactions as they arise.

What will you do?

As a key member of the Financial Control Team, reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Support Financial Control, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead the month-end close process for the Corporate Support Platform, ensuring the provision of accurate and complete financial and regulatory reporting. This includes the development and implementation of an effective P&L and BS monitoring process to facilitate oversight over the month end close process.
  • Manage the monthly global attestation and reconciliation process for the Platform, ensuring compliance with Enterprise standards
  • Maintain the primary / external reporting hierarchy for Corporate Support to allow for accurate external reporting of business activities.
  • Provide oversight and strategic direction for the control environment in the Platform, ensuring compliance with SOX and other audit requirements
  • Act as the main contact within the Corporate Support Platform for global incentive programs (long term and short term bonus programs)
  • Coordinate with various groups (FRR, FSS, Performance Management, other Financial Control groups) in order to ensure accurate external reporting, including MD&A, B/S, P&L, Note disclosures, regulatory reporting & supplemental formats
  • Review accounting policy issues and liaise with Accounting Policy Group to determine appropriate accounting treatments. Maintain technical accounting knowledge and keep abreast of new accounting developments in order to provide accounting interpretation, guidance and advice in a variety of situations.
  • Ensure global financial control policies are in place and adhered to, including SOX & End User Control compliance.
  • Act as a change agent within the team to provide recommendations for improving internal processes and enhancing the efficiency of month-end close
  • Effectively manage and develop a team of finance professionals to foster a high performance culture
  • Lead special projects as assigned by Senior Director, Corporate Support Financial Control
What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • Accounting designation (CPA)
  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Strong management capabilities
  • Ability to work independently and to multi-task
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • 5++ years of experience since qualification in a Financial Control role
Nice-to-have
  • 5 years of financial accounting/reporting experience, preferably in the Financial Services Industry
  • Knowledge of RBC systems / eGL and related tools
  • Strategic thinker, with a process improvement mindset
  • Strong financial and analytical skills and policy background
