Job Description


SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our leadership team. The Director, Enterprise Security directs and provides leadership for the overall development and management of enterprise security (physical and cyber) ensuring practices, procedures, standards and technologies are effectively mitigating identified physical and cyber risks. This includes implementing security processes that drive a security aware culture; facilitating strategy, planning and best practice sharing with management, customers and industry; and ensuring that security solutions are designed in a manner that support and facilitate the organization’s ability to deliver on its mission of providing safe, affordable and reliable natural gas.
Position Details


  • Non-union - This position is permanent full time role.

Key Accountabilities

  • Direct and provide leadership in the development and implementation of enterprise security plans and provide management with the tools and reporting that enables informed decision making on priorities, investments, remediation activities and improvements.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and leadership and with industry peers and solution providers to identify, roadmap and implement value-added, streamlined, and interoperable security solutions for information technology, operational technology, and physical assets.

  • Lead and promote solution development and technology research and development applying the principles and techniques of security risk analysis and focused on the strategic direction of the organization.

  • Initiate and maintain strong relationships with the executive and business unit leaders to understand direction, priorities and pressures, advising business units on known or anticipated security impacts or opportunities.

  • Consult with key stakeholders to collaborate on changing business needs, understand priorities, provide industry awareness and to facilitate enterprise security solutions.

  • Direct and provide leadership in the negotiation of vendor contracts for enterprise security contractors and consulting, ensuring alignment with Corporate strategic direction as well as industry standards and best practice.

  • Manage and provide leadership to the workgroup providing the development, interpretation and administration of Enterprise Security policies, procedures, practices, and goals.

  • Enforce accountability to translate planned goals into results and hold employees accountable for their goals and work performance.

  • Provide guidance, coaching, feedback, and recognition, maintaining a positive and productive culture that includes safety, accountability, respect, motivation and effective communication.

  • Address employee and contractor performance discrepancies and/or conflict situations.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Degree in Administration, Computer Science or Engineering.

  • Nine (9) years in a business environment with at least four years progressive experience in information technology management with a focus on enterprise security practices.

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) designation.

  • Physical Security Professional (PSP) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) designations would be considered an asset.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attentive to detail.

  • Interpersonal and leadership skills, highly collaborative.

  • Experience working with committees and work groups providing technical expertise and consultative services.

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective, positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Exceptional verbal, written communication skills including an ability to use appropriate communication styles and methods to gain acceptance of the department’s programming or position with internal and external parties.

A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
