Position Overview:



NUVIA Canada is seeking to appoint a Director of Engineering & Projects, reporting to NUVIA Canada's Chief Executive Officer.

The hands-on Director of Engineering & Projects must have a strong background in

mechanical, systems or civil engineering

to lead our engineering and project management functions. You will start with a small local team and strategically leverage a global network of subject matter experts to deliver high-impact projects in the Canadian nuclear industry. This role combines technical leadership with project execution, making it ideal for a builder who thrives in dynamic environments and is passionate about delivering results. The role is anticipated to have a minimum of 50% billable component.

Please note this is a hybrid role, requiring in-office attendance at least 2 days per week, based at NUVIA Canada Headquarters in the Greater Toronto Area (office location subject to change).

Main Duties:



Provide technical input on mechanical, systems and/or civil engineering design, analysis, and execution. Assist engineers and technical staff in solving complex technical problems and designing systems, processes, and equipment aligned with customer specifications. Lead the development of innovative concepts and detailed technical proposals for nuclear-related applications. Drive innovation in materials, methods, and technologies to improve efficiency and sustainability. Stay current with industry innovations, technologies, and best practices. Actively contribute to expanding NUVIA Canada's capabilities by leveraging the international NUVIA Group expertise and collaborating with reliable local partners. Build a high-performing internal engineering team. Engage and manage external consultants, contractors, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to support specialized project needs. Define and implement engineering standards, workflows, and QA/QC protocols. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and implement procedures to support long-term growth. Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, timelines, and resource allocations. Implement project management methodologies and tools to ensure transparency, accountability, and successful outcomes. Monitor project risks and develop mitigation strategies. Assist in the preparation of detailed estimates for time, labor, and materials. Coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure project alignment and execution. Act as the technical liaison during pre-order and order phases, working closely with Sales and clients. Clearly define scope and deliverables and communicate effectively with internal teams and customers. Travel to customer sites to support project oversight and ensure alignment with engineering design specifications and standards. Ensure all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the NUVIA Group Code of Conduct. Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.

Required Education:



Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Civil, Systems or Electrical Engineering is required.

Required Experience:



8+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role. Must be familiar with the use of computerized word processing & computerized spreadsheets and AutoCAD. SolidWorks or similar drawing package. Experience in the Canadian Nuclear Industry is required. An ability to present ideas, concepts and pricing information in a clear, concise manner suitable for technical audiences is essential. Strong understanding of engineering codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Proven experience leading project management functions and using tools like MS Project, Primavera, or similar. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Must hold a valid Professional Engineering (P.Eng) license. Proven experience managing projects is preferred.

Special Features of the Role:
