Profile
The Director, Engineering Operations is responsible for leading the Product Life Cycle, Engineering Governance and Operations and the external Strategic Partnerships teams that supports all priority programs and projects across all the De Havilland platforms.
Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Partnerships:

  • Define the engineering resource partnership strategy that supports all priority programs and projects across all DHC platforms
  • Target, evaluate, develop, and negotiate partnership opportunities across a wide array of engineering disciplines and specialties in support of all aspects of design and development across the disciplines.
  • Develop thorough business cases analysis and prioritization of strategic partnerships
  • Work closely with the VP of Engineering to develop and execute the strategic partnership strategy both internally and externally
  • Work with Programs Team, Engineering disciplines, Supply Chain and cross functional teams to ensure partner solutions delivery
  • Drive Engineering support capability and availability in support of organization key pillars (Aftermarket growth, Aircraft Sales, Programs/Projects)
  • Review, assess an optimize the partnership model and incremental value brought on by various partners
  • Continually monitor the performance of the partnerships so offering is top tier, innovative, and delivers significant value as well as exceptional results
  • Define and develop University Collaboration Initiatives in support of program/product development through internships, R&D initiatives, and advisory board participation
  • Work closely with Engineering and Aircraft Development Teams to identify appropriate University alliances in support of development and R&D initiatives
  • Together with VP of Engineering represent DHC at various University Advisory Boards and development committees
  • Together with VP of Engineering represent DHC at various Industry Advisory Boards and Committees
  • Support all engineering functions in identification and application for Government Funding opportunities in support of research and resource development support
Life Cycle Management:
  • Lead a dedicated team in support of Life Cycle Management initiatives across all platforms and DHC aircraft types
  • Develop and execute on plans for addressing obsolescence issues requiring Engineering design and development
  • Work closely with Supply Chain team in identification and evaluation of alternate suppliers, alternate solutions to in-service issues and supplier management claim development support
  • Working with Programs, Supply Chain, Production, and other departments to support cost reduction/improvement initiatives across all platforms
  • Align appropriate offload with key partners in support of the development of solutions addressing obsolescence, cost improvements and alternate supplier solution identification
Engineering Governance & Operations:
  • Responsible for overall Engineering team governance \xe2\x80\x93 align and coordinate individual Engineering Departmental Governance decks and KPI\xe2\x80\x99s
  • In conjunctions with Director of Project Management support overall Engineering annual budget development
  • Develop governance structure and performance management framework of strategic partnerships and lifecycle management support functions
  • Development and measurement of earned value for engineering deliverables
  • Support to VP Engineering in overall day to day Engineering Department operation
  • Unite Engineering leadership in support of prioritizing departmental strategies and growth opportunities \xe2\x80\x93 coordination of Engineering Consolidation across departments (People, Process, Applications, DAO)
  • Represent Engineering as IT Liaison/focal \xe2\x80\x93 Engineering Application consolidation and rationalization
  • In conjunction with HR and other Engineering Directors \xe2\x80\x93 develop competency matrices, maintain job profiles and develop/maintain Engineering training plans
Qualifications
  • Minimum undergraduate university degree in Engineering, an MBA or other post-graduate degree, or equivalent industry related experience preferred
  • Experience and strong track record in management of Strategic Partnerships, Life Cycle Management, and departmental governance
  • Mental agility, possessing the ability to manage multiple priorities/responsibilities simultaneously and execute tasks in a high pressure fast paced environment
  • Superior oral and written communication skills as well as effective presentation skills
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, conflict management and risk management skills
  • Strategic decision-making skills \xe2\x80\x93 innovative mindset to create new, effective solutions
  • Exceptional leadership skills to effectively lead a group of team members
