The Corix team has an opportunity for a Director, District Energy Development in Toronto, ON - Remote. This position is responsible for the evaluation of business opportunities, preparation, response, and execution of technical and financial feasibility/due diligence assessments for new district energy utility developments, negotiations of the business/partnership agreements, liaison with other company\'s dept., and an oversight of a project development budget. Director, DE Development works in close cooperation with finance and corporate development teams to develop project financial models, and coordinates with regulatory team and regulatory agencies. Presents to the ELT on an as needed basis.

What you\'ll do

  • Identifies/develops new DE business opportunities, coordinates responses to competitive procurement processes such as RFEOI\'s and RFP\'s.
  • Plans, co-ordinates, and executes feasibility and due diligence processes
  • Leads negotiations of business term sheets and partnership agreements, prepares material for Corix\'s executive leadership.
  • Monitors and provides ongoing support in the development of client projects in direct contact with the Operations and Project Management Office to ensure client expectations are met.
  • Translates client expectations into workable business models, both from an engineering design and financial costing perspective
  • Prepares business packages and responses to RFI\'s, RFQ\'s and RFP\'s, including developing strategies of approach, drawing on existing content and drafting original, customized content based on specific customer requirements.
  • Works with the Operations and Project Management Office to create database of EUIs, construction costs, ops costs and lessons learned to facilitate new business development.
  • Negotiates, or supports negotiations teams, the business, partnership and consulting services agreements for DE projects
  • Prepares Business Cases for Corix approvals
  • Prepares content, coordinates and supports submissions of regulatory applications, working with project team to ensure all regulatory requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Ensures that all required professional services agreements are in place for all work projects and that there is appropriate due diligence to compliance of the agreement terms.
  • Serves as a resource for Corporate Development as required.
  • Leads presentations with clients and consultants through the complete cycle from initial concept design, presentation and approval to order delivery.
  • Monitors and tracks the work schedules and project budgets with the Project Management Office and Operations in order to ensure the work product is submitted as per the schedule and within the agreed budget.
  • Works with Project Management Office and Operations during the feasibility and due diligence assessment phase to develop and deliver concepts that are complete and constructible.
  • Represents as needed at the IDEA and other industry conferences, workshops, and professional organizations.
What you bring

Experience
  • 10 years of related experience to the district energy field
Education
  • Bachelor\'s degree in science, engineering or related field
Nice to Have
  • Master\'s degree in science, engineering or related field (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to yield optimal performance in a timely manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Well-developed analytical ability to evaluate company objectives, assessing potential risks of each decision.
  • Must be innovative to create new and effective solutions.

  • Travel is required (25%)
  • Must have passport and be able to travel to US and Canada locations
