Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Academic, the Director, Community & Continuing Education (CCE) provides leadership to an innovative, entrepreneurial, and surplus-generating CCE department. Through a lens of strategic enrolment management, the Director has overall responsibility for leading, guiding, and managing the development and implementation of comprehensive, innovative, and high-quality programming across all campuses that support the strategic priorities of CNC and meets the needs of the communities and partners it serves.

The Director leads the development of a shared vision for Community & Continuing Education, with the Manager, CE and Community Campus Managers, and provides strategic leadership that support the growth of an integrated college-wide Community & Continuing Education department which positions the institution to be the training partner of choice for learners, Aboriginal communities, as well as local community groups and industry. The Director serves as a steward of the College, developing sustainable relationships with business, industry, and Aboriginal communities. The Director will work with their direct reports, and with members of the CNC community and external partners to identify opportunities and secure agreements for partnerships and programs. The role will design and manage business planning for CCE operations and institute College-wide systems of accountability for the growth and expansion of net-positive revenue generating activities in the institution. The Director will be required to work actively and collaboratively within the institution to develop a thriving revenue generating operation. The role is responsible for the overall management of Community & Continuing Education operations across the institution, providing leadership, guidance and supervision to the Manager, Continuing Education, Community Campus Managers, faculty, and operational staff within the portfolio. You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners. You will promote a positive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.
Specific Duties
Provides strategic leadership and guidance to Managers and others reporting to the Director, CCE, and ensuring effective management of local community campus activities that support the College's strategic priorities. Actively engages with communities served by the institution, including Aboriginal Communities, public and private sector employers, health authorities, industry, local government, and other organizations in the pursuit of partnerships and revenue generating opportunities within CCE. Builds and maintains strong partnerships with local businesses, industries, local government, and community organizations to ensure relevant and high-quality continuing education programming that meet region-specific and broader workforce needs. Leads the negotiation and administration of contracts and agreements with funding agencies and external partners, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, legal standards, and funding requirements. Responsible for the overall financial management of CCE operations, including the development and management of budgets, with the purpose of generating revenue for the portfolio through its programs and contract training initiatives. Develops multi-year integrated plans, operational structures, policies, procedures, and communications within the department and, where appropriate, in the College. Ensures decisions are communicated within the department and College and the external community. Manages and develops administrators and faculty within the portfolio, including the recruitment, career development, and performance management of personnel within institutional policies and procedures and collective agreement guidelines. Provides leadership and oversight in teaching excellence and faculty development. This includes evaluation of instructors ensuring they demonstrate instructional skills and expertise required to provide programming. Administers the provisions of the applicable collective agreements Works collaboratively with leaders and managers in other college departments and campuses to provide consistent direction on work functions, processes, and standards. This may involve supervising staff in a matrix management model. Responsible for employee evaluations and where necessary, in collaboration with Human Resources, designs and implements performance improvement plans. Provides leadership and oversight on curriculum development and quality assurances activities, and ensures programming is implemented and managed according to CNC policies and conforms to relevant regulatory bodies and policies of its partners. Responsible for addressing student issues and administering student-related Policy and Procedures. Interprets market research relevant to the business planning of the department with the goal of positioning the department competitively within the external marketplace. Analyzes enrollment trends and data to inform decision-making and strategic planning for the department. Utilizes data to forecast future enrollment and adjust strategies to meet institutional targets. Works towards and supports the College's commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous communities through integrated academic practices, programs and policies. Promotes and encourages learning-centered approaches where a culturally inclusive environment facilitates respect, equality and understanding. Collaborates with Student Affairs to create an inclusive, supportive, and accessible learning environment. Attends and provides advice as requested at all relevant internal and external committee meetings. Other duties as assigned by Associate Vice President, Academic.

Skills & Qualifications
Master's degree in Education, Business Administration, or other relevant field of study Five (5) years' operational management experience developing and managing continuing education, special interest, and professional development programs at a post-secondary institution; or a relevant combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience understanding educational needs and planning, particularly relating to responsiveness to communities and their evolving social, economic, and labour market needs. Articulated knowledge of adult and community education philosophy and practices Experience working with training teams and organization partners to design, develop, and deliver contract

training programs that meet identified training needs.

Experience designing and teaching educational programs. Experience evaluating and mentoring instructors on all aspects of their work, including their teaching and assessment strategies, lesson planning, and curricular resource development. Experience writing proposals and making presentations. Proficient in business planning, marketing, financial administration, and educational program implementation. Demonstrated experience initiating and stewarding external relationships with potential clients and stakeholder groups.

Strong time- management skills and organizational, as well as, budgeting and financial management skills.

Demonstrated success in constructing proposals and negotiating contracts. Outstanding computer skills with proficiency using Microsoft Office and complex databases. Excellent research skills with ability to synthesize data/information and develop/deliver findings and recommendations. Demonstrated leader and entrepreneur with the ability to act as part of a senior management team. Ability to think strategically and conceptually; handle conflicting and multiple priorities and implement goal setting strategies; think creatively and react to opportunities and challenges, and develop and increase existing and new revenue streams to increase profitability. Team player with an aptitude for working in a collegial and collaborative environment and the ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with internal and external contacts. Demonstrated success working with employers, First Nations governments, Indigenous and/or community-based organizations, and other external partners within a community college context. Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and an ability to collaborate and co-operate with others for both immediate and strategic outcomes Demonstrated ability to use evidence-based decision-making Understanding of best practices related to strategic enrolment management preferred Experience in the administration of complex labour contracts
