The mandate of the Continuing Education and Outreach Assistant is to address the college need to provide administrative support to departments, centres, and Dean's office in the area of continuing education, outreach, and community engagement. It is the purpose of the Continuing Education and Outreach Assistant to administrate and support the coordination and facilitation of non-credit programs, certificates, micro-credentials, academic and non-academic events for the College of Agriculture and Bioresources, the Nutrien Centre for Digital and Sustainable Agriculture, and the kichi-okawimaw Knowledge Centre.
Nature of Work:
Reporting to the Associate Dean Academic, the Continuing Education and Outreach Assistant is responsible for or assists with the organization and coordination of college and department events, such as, for example: Soils and Crops Workshop. As well as assists with administration of non-credits programs such as, for example: the Canadian Crop Science Consultant, the Management of Confined Trials, the Prairie Horticulture Certificate, the Sustainable Irrigation and Introduction to Prescribed Fire micro-credentials, and the college commitment to Sustainable Food for Canada Network (SF4C). The individual in this position must demonstrate an ability to build professional relationships with faculty, staff and external partners. Working in a complex environment, this position requires discretion, tact, professionalism and a commitment to continuous improvement. The work requires attention to quality of work, the ability to understand and accurately communicate, and the need to prioritize to meet deadlines. New initiatives that align with college priorities and under the supervision of Agbio faculty may be assigned.
Typical Duties or Accountabilities:

Sets priorities for meeting representative duties and associated deadlines;
Effective organization, administration and coordination of workshops, knowledge transfer, non-credit programs, and micro-credentials;
Work closely with AgBio Student Services; collaborate with AgBio Communications, the Director of Development, and with the Manager, Research, Graduate Studies and External Engagement, as appropriate to support event planning and promotion and other relevant initiatives;
Assist with the development of event and program budgets to support cost recovery and overall fiscal responsibility;
Education & Experience:
A four-year university degree is required with a preference for a degree in agriculture or bio-resources. A minimum of three years of event and outreach related work experience, preferable in an educational setting. A valid Class 5 Saskatchewan driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.

Also required is an ability to work independently; proven effective interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with faculty, staff and students, tact, diplomacy and good judgment; excellent public speaking ability; demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement of knowledge and skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, and meet deadlines; decision-making, organizational and time-management abilities; a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as internet and email software applications; attention to detail; creative problem-solving abilities; cultural sensitivity and demonstrated willingness to participate actively in college and university efforts toward Reconciliation and Indigenization.
