About Us

The Role

This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of external and internal communications functions at Cameco, ensuring the effective messaging and communication of corporate activities and objectives to build support with key stakeholders and maximize our reputation as a vital player in the global clean energy and critical minerals space.

In this role, you will:

  • Developing, reviewing and approving strategic messaging for use in proactively and reactively communicating about Cameco and its performance with various audiences
  • Identifying, planning and executing targeted communications opportunities to advance corporate objectives and business goals employing a variety of media, including advertising and social media
  • Managing the design, development and production of professional materials for print and electronic media, including Cameco\'s website and intranet, contributing to the company\'s overall brand
  • Overseeing Cameco\'s relationship with media, leading the process of drafting and issuing news releases and other public communications and responding to media inquiries and interview requests
  • Preparing and supporting Cameco\'s executive officers and senior personnel for media engagements, speeches and presentations, assisting other departments with communications needs as required
  • Supervising the External Communications and Internal Communications business units and their professional staff, as well as communications consultants and service providers Cameco may contract
Required:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or a related discipline
  • Twelve or more years of progressively responsible experience in communications, media relations, public relations, journalism, consulting/agency work or a related role
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered
  • Previous experience within media and/or dealing with media
  • Experience with web and social media platforms, as well as advertising campaigns
  • Superior writing and verbal communication skills
Recommended:
  • Communications experience in a corporate setting, particularly a publicly traded company
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry, preferably nuclear energy or mining
