Director, Clinical Training and Simulation- Long Term Care
Reporting into senior clinical operations leadership, the Director, Clinical Training and Simulation provides strategic direction and hands-on leadership for clinical education and simulation initiatives across long-term care operations. This role is accountable for advancing clinical capability, strengthening staff confidence, and supporting safe, high-quality resident care through modern, experiential learning approaches. The ideal candidate is a Master's-prepared Registered Nurse with strong long-term care experience, a background in adult education, and a passion for hands-on learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, delivery, and ongoing improvement of clinical education programs across long-term care operations
  • Ensure education initiatives align with organizational priorities, regulatory requirements, and best practices
  • Design and oversee education delivery through classroom learning, digital tools, and simulation-based training
  • Provide oversight of simulation lab programming, including scenario development, scheduling, and resource utilization
  • Champion evidence-informed simulation experiences that strengthen clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication
  • Identify opportunities to enhance simulation delivery through tools, technology, and strategic partnerships
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of clinical educators and facilitators
  • Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Oversee the development and refresh of education materials including facilitator guides, learner resources, e-learning content, and competency tools
  • Apply adult learning principles and innovative teaching strategies
  • Collaborate with clinical and quality teams to identify learning needs and address performance gaps
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of education programs using data and outcomes
Qualifications and Experience
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Education, or a related field
  • Active registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario or equivalent regulatory body
  • Minimum 10 years of clinical nursing experience with at least 5 years in a leadership or education-focused role
  • Demonstrated experience in adult education, curriculum development, and simulation-based learning
  • Nurse Educator, Clinical Instructor, and Simulation certifications are preferred
  • Strong leadership, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Experience with learning management systems and simulation technology is an asset
  • Passion for person-centered care, quality improvement, and culture transformation
  • Ability to travel nationally
