What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Be Doing

You\xe2\x80\x99ll join our Business Controls team reporting to the Senior Director, Business Controls. As a Director, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work on an exciting team that leads various business control functions, establishing risk framework, risk detection, measurement and mitigation across all channels, segments, product and functional groups. You\xe2\x80\x99ll lead a consulting team in the overall mandate of Business Controls by supporting the management of material, and systemic and emerging operational risks for the Personal Lending and Insurance Portfolio.

How You\xe2\x80\x99ll Succeed

  • Relationship Management \xe2\x80\x93 Act as a key relationship manager and be a key contributor to the operational risk strategy. Utilize highly developed interpersonal and presentation skills to influence senior stakeholders in situations that require cooperation and/or consensus. Ensure senior management is kept apprised of material and emerging business risks by developing and recommending appropriate risk mitigation strategies. Provide proactive support to the assigned businesses throughout the various control processes such the development of Risk and Control Self-Assessments, issue identification and resolution, and new initiative risk assessments. Collaborate with Risk Stakeholders such as GORM, Compliance and Internal Audit. Develop and deliver regular risk and control reporting to senior management.
  • Risk Advisor \xe2\x80\x93 Provide operational risk advice including proactive risk/control deficiency identification and ongoing review of control process/procedures. Continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the control environment and key control processes. Lead, manage and monitor various processes including control and compliance framework activities, Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RSA/CSA), Deficiency Management, Incidents, Change Initiative Risk Assessment (CIRA), Reportable Compliance Issues (RCIs) and Regulatory Group Topics (RGTs). Identify and assess the results of control testing/failures to determine the nature, extent and impact of the operational risk.
  • Business Management \xe2\x80\x93 Provide ongoing oversight and management over common Business Controls activities supporting Canadian banking. This includes reviewing and updating the team on CIBC Policy changes and managing CIRA Committee meetings.
  • People Management \xe2\x80\x93 Provide leadership and effective management of direct reports to influence employee commitment to the organization and their team by setting appropriate context when assigning work, building team & individual capabilities, managing performance with fair and accurate feedback and creating a positive work environment. Provide leadership and contribute to the success of the broader Business Controls team.
