Job Description




Purpose:
The Digital Recruitment Specialist role supports the Lassonde School of Engineering\'s student recruitment activities, by leveraging digital and other virtual media, to recruit and convert applicants to the University. Reporting to the Director, the role works collaboratively with the Lassonde Recruitment & Admissions team and the Lassonde Communications team to coordinate and implement digital and virtual recruitment activities, leveraging a variety of online tools and resources. The Digital Recruitment Specialist role recommends designs and, on approval, implements virtual events and/or activities for Lassonde. The role also supports Lassonde\'s digital e-Class-based programs such as Lassonde Academy and Lassonde Edge. The Digital Recruitment Specialist role will support the vision, purpose, values and strategic direction of the Lassonde School of Engineering and York University, and contribute to a positive, supportive student-focused team environment of high performance, respect, trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement, embracing diversity and fostering inclusion.

Education:
University degree in Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, or a similar discipline or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

Experience:
Two (2) years recent and directly related work experience in the areas of student recruitment and/or marketing, in an online environment, using various social media platforms. Experience using established and emerging software for lead generation, prospect/applicant management through customer relations management programs. Experience delivering effective presentations and/or public speaking, event and program administration, advising/counselling, and answering detailed/complex enquiries, in a student service area, is required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, in a compelling, concise, and accurate manner.
  • Exceptional event/program planning and coordination skills.
  • Advanced Word, advanced social media (including Facebook, twitter, blogging, Instagram) skills, advanced skills leveraging online webinar tools like Skype and Zoom. Intermediate Excel and Access skills.
  • Strong advising and counselling skills.
  • Able to analyze, interpret and present information.
  • Ability to apply tact and diplomacy and maintaining confidentiality as appropriate.
  • Able to exercise good judgement and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure of high volume(s).
  • Adept at learning new technology.
  • Excellent Initiative, resourcefulness, creativity, and innovation skills.

Other:
  • Knowledge of the Ontario University system admissions criteria, university programs and strong familiarity with Canadian and international educational systems.
  • Demonstrated excellence in public speaking and presentation skills to variety of audience sizes.
  • Demonstrated experience with CRM systems such as Microsoft Dynamics and knowledge of large, computerized record system.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and sensitivity to cultural issues.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of creating student success: care, accountability, respect, innovation, excellence, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, build and maintain positive working relationships.
