The library's mission is to sustainably develop, preserve and make accessible UWinnipeg's knowledge and cultural resources in support of teaching and research. We are a core academic service that provides the spaces and services necessary for our students, faculty, and community researchers to discover, create, access and use these resources.



The

Digital Preservation Analyst is a full-time term

position that will manage, configure, and maintain the library's open- source and locally hosted software. This software includes library services such as DSpace, OJS, and OMP running on university-hosted virtual machines. The successful candidate will work with the Library Systems Technologist - Infrastructure to implement, configure, maintain, and support self-hosted systems and their servers and ensure proper integration with other university systems and Software-as-a-Service platforms.


Responsibilities:




Working with the Archives team, the Scholarly Communications Team, and the Systems Team, configure, customize, upgrade and maintain the software platform, including back-end and front-end applications and the database/index. Respond to escalated user-reported issues, troubleshoot and resolve problems. Participate in the selection, deployment, installation, and maintenance of other software platforms as necessary. E.g. Omeka, Archivematica, Mukurtu, Aviary. As part of the library's plan to improve robustness and resilience of our virtual machine infrastructure, and to streamline the deployment and configuration of software, use an Infrastructure-as-Code tool such as Ansible to spin up virtual servers and deploy the appropriate software. Respond to stakeholder issues and communicate resolutions. Develop appropriate documentation to ensure knowledge sharing throughout the Systems Team and the other library staff. Provide extra capacity by backing up the existing Library Systems Technologist - Infrastructure.

Qualifications:




Professional degree in a related discipline from a recognized institution, plus 1 year of directly related experience, OR Undergraduate degree in related discipline from a recognized institution plus 2 years of directly related experience, OR Accredited Institutional Diploma from a recognized institution plus 3 years of directly related experience, including a good working knowledge and understanding of microcomputer hardware and software systems, techniques, local area networks and/or operating systems. At least 3 years of experience working with Linux servers and open-source software. At least 3 years of experience configuring and maintaining computer hardware and software in an enterprise context. At least 1 year of experience working in an academic or library environment (preferred). In-depth knowledge of Linux server administration and open-source software deployment, configuration, and maintenance required. Basic knowledge of authentication and authorization systems, networking, server and storage hardware required. Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code systems like Ansible; software development in languages like Java using related Web Application Frameworks; knowledge of JavaScript, XML, and related languages - preferred. Familiarity with library specific systems like DSpace, Omeka, and ContentDM preferred. Ability to communicate effectively both internally, with staff, Librarians and the Dean of the Library, and externally with TSC and other campus departments, as well as with software vendors.

An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

The salary range for this position will be from $30.91 to 42.79 hourly.
