As part of Student Affairs, the unit is committed to supporting staff, faculty, student, and departmental success.
Working as an integral member of the Printing Services team, the Digital Prepress Operator provides front-line service, acts as a resource and subject matter expert and is responsible for preflight and repairing digital files before printing (digital prepress), information and data security, braille as well as operation and maintenance of related software, file backup, equipment, printing systems and devices. The Digital Prepress Operator has a direct impact on the work unit and is responsible for operating our digital colour press as well as acting in a support role for our digital B&W press' and bindery.The Digital Prepress Operator works on a team with three other production staff, as well as two customer service reps and will need to be flexible depending on what customer service, prepress or bindery assistance is required at the time.Job RequirementsExperience:
This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to 2-3 years' experience in a customer service setting.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven experience as a Prepress Technician in a printing environment.
  • Strong understanding of prepress workflows and printing processes (i.e. EFI Fiery, Xerox).
  • Proficiency in industry-standard prepress software applications such as: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Prepress software (Quite Imposing, Pitstop Pro, XMPIE, Fiery Impose).
  • Knowledge of colour management principles and colour correction techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of variable data imposition and printing.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Specialized Knowledge/Education:
  • 2-3 years of prepress, printing and bindery experience required.
