Reporting to the Director (Azrieli School of Architecture), and under the general supervision of the Digital Craft Technician, the Digital Media Technologist is responsible for assisting and substituting in the general operation of the digital facilities. This would include digital craft equipment (printing, laser cutting, 3D printing), audio-visual support, and IT support for the students, staff, and faculty for digital presentations and digital classroom support. In addition, this position will assist the Systems and Network Specialist in basic IT support and computer lab maintenance.
This is a technical position concerned with digital technology essential for the day-to-day operation of the school. The incumbent will provide technical and safety advice to faculty, staff and students on using the equipment in the school of Architecture facilities. The incumbent will also oversee digital modeling advice and file preparation techniques and instruct students in safe and proper procedures, materials, supplies, and tools to best suit the task at hand.
Responsible for overseeing audio-visual requirements, such as projection, recording, and streaming during live special events in the school's main assembly area when the Digital Craft Technician is not available, and responsible for the Digital Fabrication Lab Facilities in the absence of the Digital Craft Technician and Technical Assistant.
The position requires a flexible schedule in terms of daily start, lunch and finish times to accommodate faculty and staff requirements during the week. To meet demand, the position's schedule will be staggered to the Digital Craft Technician's schedule. During academic reviews, the technician will have to work extended hours to support the augmented needs at the School of Architecture. The incumbent will also be called upon to support a few Saturday events throughout the year, as per the Director's approval.

Physical capability to lift and move materials (up to 80 lbs).
Extensive knowledge in digital media for architecture, including digital fabrication and representation.
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
Completion of a four-year undergraduate degree in a design-related program, with a preference for Architecture.
The position requires extensive knowledge in digital craft/media relating to architecture,
as well as experience and a thorough understanding of digital fabrication and representation in
architecture.
Minimum of four years of work experience, including relevant expertise in innovative Digital Craft-related hardware/software such as laser cutting, 3D printing, emerging digital media software and hardware, scanning, GPS systems, photography, and photogrammetry.
