Position Summary


The Centre of Teaching, Learning and Scholarship (CTLS) is currently inviting applications for a full-time, permanent, Digital Learning Coordinator.



The Digital Learning Coordinator ensures that Red Deer Polytechnic's digital learning ecosystem effectively supports and enhances teaching and learning.



The incumbent will coordinate the administration, integration, and adoption of RDP's digital ecosystem by expanding features and supporting functionality of the LMS (Learning Management System) and associated integrations.



Working collaboratively with the LMS System Analyst, Learning Designers, faculty and others, the Digital Learning Coordinator will assist schools, departments, and offices across the Polytechnic in utilizing digital technologies in their teaching practice.



The Digital Learning Coordinator is accountable for supporting the growth and development of the digital learning ecosystem at Red Deer Polytechnic.


Position Responsibilities


Digital Learning Platform Administration

Working directly with the Manager, Dual Credit and Flexible Learning Pathways, the Chair of CTLS, the Educational Multi Media Support Specialists, Learning Designers, and IT Services, coordinates the adoption, integration, and maintenance of the LMS. From a pedagogical lens, leads the adoption, integration, and maintenance of other teaching and learning technology software systems that make up the digital ecosystem. Develops and coordinates training and support for faculty, staff, and students on use of LMS and other teaching and learning technologies. Acts as the Power Admin for LMS on behalf of RDP. Acts as the liaison between RDP and LMS provider when troubleshooting technological challenges. Manages course deletion schedule.

Course Design and Development for Quality Standards

Working directly with the Manager, Dual Credit and Flexible Learning Pathways, the Chair of CTLS, assigns Digital Learning team members to program quality projects. Leads the Digital Learning Team meetings. Leads the development and coordination of workshops and training related to the digital ecosystem. Alongside members of the Digital Learning Team, provides pedagogically sound technical support for faculty in their teaching and learning technology tools.

Front Line Support and Faculty Training

Provides just in time drop-in support for faculty in the training, troubleshooting, and pedagogical use of educational technologies at RDP including the Learning Management System, classroom technologies and peripheral teaching and learning tools. Creates how to support resources to teach faculty how to use and apply pedagogical uses to technology. Learns and applies new technologies to teaching and learning such as innovations and advancements in Artificial Intelligence.

Communication and Collaboration

Coordinates, on behalf of the CTLS communication initiatives, with Polytechnic community, School Divisions, and regional stakeholders and other internal and external stakeholders, while ensuring there are no conflicts in information shared or duplication of effort with external organizations. Responsible for the content development and resource creation related to the LMS, other teaching and learning technology platforms, and workshops hosted by CTLS. Contributes as a committee member to the AI Advisory Committee

Continuous Growth and Acquisition of New Skills

Actively participates in training and professional development activities as they become available. Actively acquires knowledge and skills related to the position. Familiarize self with policy and procedures in order to meet user needs immediately without misleading or misdirecting. Perform duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications


Bachelor of Education with a focus on Educational Technology Minimum of 2-3 years of previous job-related experience A theoretical and practical knowledge of pedagogical approaches and the application of learning technologies to teaching and learning Experience applying educational technologies to learning with a pedagogical focus Experience working with Learning Management Systems Experience with change management promoting the use and adoption of technologies for educational purposes Experience with database administration at a systems level Proven ability to triage technical issues and troubleshoot problems Experience in seeking appropriate solutions through effective questioning Strong self-management and collaboration skills Experience working with and leading a cross-functional team Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
