About the Role:
Global Edmonton\xe2\x80\x99s news department is seeking a full-time Digital Journalist based out of Edmonton. Reporting to the Managing Editor, the successful candidate will be a flexible multi-tasker with a positive, can-do attitude. This person will be required to work a variety of shifts including early mornings, days, evenings and weekends reporting, shooting, writing, and editing content for TV, radio and web. This is Group H position in the current collective agreement.

You\'ll be working on things like:

• Research and develop original and enterprising story ideas; actively participate in the assignment process and meetings.
• Report, shoot, write, edit, post and promote stories for multiple daily newscasts and for globalnews.ca.
• Display creativity in the use of graphics and other visual elements.
• Write and record radio voicers and deliver live debriefs on talk radio.
• Report live, on location.
• Be a strong advocate, model and mentor for digital journalism and a digital-first workflow.
• Participate in Global Edmonton promotional and community initiatives.
• Perform other duties as required.

If you have the following...we want to hear from you!

• A broadcast-related degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
• At least two years of reporting experience with a record of strong news judgment and creative storytelling
• Proven on-air presentation, including live remotes and unscripted material
• Adept writer for broadcast, online and social media with online and traditional research skills
• Passionate about journalism, especially local news
• Familiarity with Canadian Press style and WordPress would be considered assets
• An effective communicator with a positive outlook and vision for the future
• Highly motivated, innovative and able to make quick and effective decisions under pressure
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Willing and able to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows
• A valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
