The Students' Association of Olds College (SAOC) is on a mission to empower students by creating a safe environment filled with allies and supporting them through their journeys with community-based services. We're seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Digital Engagement and Communications Manager to help us fulfill this important objective. Reporting to the Executive Director, the DECM will be responsible for promoting SAOC to our student members. This individual will leverage digital and print media to create and distribute compelling communications and excite our students about SAOC's services and programs. Experience with photography and with popular social media platforms is essential, and experience with graphic design, the Google workspace, the Adobe Suite, Canva, and/or Mailchimp is considered a plus. Above all, the Digital Engagement and Communications Manager should have exceptional written communication and technological skills.
Objectives of this role:
Strengthen SAOC's brand identity with cohesive, consistent messaging and visual themes.
Keep Olds College students informed about the valuable programs and services offered by SAOC.
Develop initiatives and promotions to spark student interest and enhance the student experience.
Maintain a close working relationship with colleagues to understand and communicate important information about all departments' initiatives.
Work closely with the Student Experience Manager to ensure that events and programs are effectively promoted to the student body.
Key responsibilities/outputs:
Create and distribute SAOC's regular student newsletter via email.
Maintain the social media accounts of SAOC and its subsidiaries with regular updates.
Maintain SAOC's website and Google business profiles with regular updates.
Produce and distribute print media assets including event posters, flyers, and informational tri-fold brochures.
Develop and execute weeks-long promotional campaigns to build engagement on major annual initiatives including our Big Six events, Midterm Madness campaigns, and student elections.
Promote student initiatives on our social media platforms by attending events hosted by SAOC, The Crossing, Bloom Cafe, student clubs, and student experience-related departments of Olds College.
Support student club and Executive Council initiatives by developing and promoting content for their events and projects.
Host weekly MarComm meetings for effective interdepartmental communication about student events and initiatives.
Take photos and videos of SAOC spaces, services, events, and people.
Write engaging copy for SAOC initiatives including student leadership elections, advocacy projects, and volunteer opportunities.
Design print and online menus for the food & beverage department under the direction of the Food & Beverage Manager.
Carry out administrator duties for SAOC's Facebook groups (approving membership requests, moderating posts, etc.).
Skills & qualifications:
Diploma or higher education in communications, media studies, graphic design, or related field.
Exceptional written communication skills.
2 years of experience in a related position.
Punctuality and consistency, especially pertaining to professional behavior.
Belief in the value of student needs and opinions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00-$28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
