Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Philanthropic Advisor, and working closely with the Marketing and Communications team, the incumbent will develop innovative systems and strategies that introduce and emphasize the importance of a lifelong relationship with the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University. In collaboration with key faculty units, the incumbent will drive meaningful students and alumni engagement through targeted programming, strategic online communications, and innovative digital initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities:Design and deliver a plan to create meaningful engagement with students and alumni through targeted programming, online communications and digital engagement strategies.
Proactively work with the Marketing and Communications team to curate and manage relevant McGill Desautels content for websites, online platforms and newsletter.
Create and manage engaging digital content (videos, podcasts, posts, newsletters, stories, etc.) tailored to prospective students, students and alumni audiences.
Work with a team of volunteers to grow Faculty affinity groups across platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram; facilitate digital networking opportunities through alumni groups, student forums, and other relevant channels, while regularly assessing the potential for new communities.
Act as the main point of contact for domestic and international alumni wishing to make connections with McGill Desautels or with one another through online groups and activities.
Work with supervisor and digital communications team to establish KPI's and track engagement metrics (e.g., email open rates, social media reach, event registrations).
Design and distribute email newsletters and targeted email campaigns using a CRM to segment audiences and track engagement.
Work with communications, development, recruitment, and academic teams to align messaging and goals, including enhancing the McGill Desautels brand recognition and reputation, as required by the late benefactor Marcel Desautels.
Plan and execute social media coverage for key milestones such as convocation and homecoming, highlighting student and alumni achievements and fostering community engagement.
Support the faculty's signature events, including career fairs and study trips, by highlighting alumni engagement and support on media platforms.
Liaise with Desautels programs and services (e.g., Career Management) and academic faculty to stay informed about emerging opportunities and guide alumni toward relevant offerings.
In collaboration with key faculty units, plan and execute virtual lifelong learning events tailored to an alumni audience, highlighting the expertise and thought leadership of key faculty members.
Participate in ad hoc projects and responsibilities, as required.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Demonstrated understanding of alumni relations and its importance to the development process. Experience developing and implementing communications plans and strategies, particularly for social media. Strong writing and communication skills with attention to detail. Knowledge of evolving marketing industry trends for social media. Demonstrated ability in planning, implementation, organization and problem-solving skills. Ability to establish priorities and long-short term plans and objectives. Must be able to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines and to be able to work well in a complex organization with multiple stakeholders. Self-motivated and a highly collaborative team player. Work experience in a post-secondary environment preferred. English and French, spoken and written.
