Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Reach Alliance, the Digital Communications & Engagement Officer will be responsible for creating, editing and producing materials and maintaining the Reach Alliance\'s digital platforms. In this role, the Digital Communications & Engagement Officer will collaborate with Reach Alliance staff, student researchers, faculty mentors and funders to generate content and to grow the Reach Alliance brand. They will support outreach with partners and stakeholders in Canada and internationally.
This is an one-year term position ending on October 2024 with possbility of extension.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing communication plans that support outreach goals and objectives
  • Implementing marketing and advertising plans to increase revenue-generating activities
  • Implementing community relations outreach plans for targeted audiences
  • Producing promotional and outreach materials
  • Conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities
  • Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Creating and editing web pages with interactive media

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Business, Global Affairs or equivalent combination of experience and education. Master level degree is an asset.
  • Minimum four years of recent and relevant experience in media, communications, advertising, or public relations in a research institute or non-for-profit sector, working with national and international multidisciplinary teams, partners, and stakeholders in Canada and low/middle-income countries.
  • Experience working on issues related to the UN\xe2\x80\x99s Sustainable Development Goals and/or reaching hard to reach populations
  • Experience working with or coordinating across different stakeholder groups, including the private sector, public sector, civil society and universities
  • Experience working in larger project teams, including relevant expertise in managing the design, implementation and evaluation of digital communications strategies/plans
  • Experienced and highlyskilled at writing and editing, including crafting social media posts, writing web content and e-newsletters and related items
  • Experience ensuring that digital communication collateral adheres to brand identity and relevant style guides
  • Experience in editing, reviewing and communicating academic work to the general public
  • Experience using Google AdWords and related tools
  • Demonstrated experience in website and social media management, including the ability to measure and assess the success of digital communications strategies, experience creating animated / video posts for social media platforms
  • Experience using project management tools (eg. Notion and Smartsheets)
  • Exceptionally skilled at using social mediachannels (including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube), with proven experience managing a branded account
  • Knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals
  • Advanced proficiency using content management systems for website management (eg. WordPress)
  • Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining editorial / content calendars
  • Advanced proficiency using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere/Rush)
  • Advanced proficiency using of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint required
  • Proven experience using social media management tools (eg. Hootsuite / Sprout Social)
  • Proficiency at creating reports using Google Analytics and other reporting tools
  • Strong understanding off and commitment to the university\'s equity principles

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of and commitment to the university\'s equity principles
  • Fluency in French is considered a strong asset

USW Pay Band 11 - $73,748 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $94,310. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
