Communications and Engagement Specialist

Summarized Position Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will collaborate with project staff in communicating and engaging on City projects, programs and services, create communication plans, liaise with staff and develop and lead multimedia strategy and digital presence, develop and implement the Citys social media content calendar, develop specialized communications to address emerging issues on social media, update corporate websites and lead a team of content providers, prepare reports, produce presentations, administer photography and video assignments , other related duties.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Degree in Communications, Journalism and/or Marketing from a recognized institution
- 4 years experience in a related position with at least 2 years experience in multimedia
- Proven experience in videography and photography
- Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and graphic design, photo, and video editing software (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro)
- Advanced experience in website content management
- Required to exercise discretion and confidentiality
- Experience in social media platforms management and analytics
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts, clients and stakeholders in a professional manner
- Experience in community engagement design and implementation
- Experience in a local government working environment an asset
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
- Valid Class 5 B.C. Drivers Licence
