Primary function
Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) is looking for a Digital Media Specialist to tell our story and build engagement with clients and stakeholders.

We seek an enthusiastic creative with the skills to conceptualize and produce static and interactive multimedia collateral for a variety of audiences, platforms, and outcomes.

Reporting to: Director, Communications
Key accountabilities
  • Conducting research and working with Communications Advisors and Client Information Lead to recommend and provide technical expertise on the development of a variety of digital media projects using various applications and channels, primarily the website and social media platforms.
  • Generate recommendations regarding digital strategies and tactics in support of business objectives based on available data and trends.
  • Develop the design aesthetic of digital communication products in a manner that is visually compelling and aligned with the Legal Aid Ontario\xe2\x80\x99s visual identity style guide.
  • Design and edit original pieces including motion graphic assets, videos, infographics, gifs, posts, and animations for all social media (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram) and digital marketing initiatives in English, French and other languages.
  • Leverage analytics to determine the effectiveness of activities and make continual improvements.
  • Perform quality assurance and performance testing across platforms to ensure assets are accessible for all users.
Required skills & experience

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in design (e.g., design arts, graphic design, communication and arts design, multimedia design), related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Expert proficiency with desktop publishing and in the key software tools used by Web and Graphic designers, such as Dreamweaver and Adobe Creative Suite, Internet compatible languages and resources such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript and Content Management Systems such as SharePoint.
  • Ability to provide design leadership skills and full development life-cycle experience (analysis, design, development, testing, and support).
  • Demonstrated experience producing digital design products, (i.e., internship work, personal or volunteer projects, academic projects, etc.)
Preferred qualifications
  • Multimedia production skills, i.e. video, audio/podcasts, graphic design, animation, ideation/conceptualization, etc.
  • French is an asset.
  • Experience working with multilingual content.
  • Familiarity with eLearning authoring tools (Smart Builder, Articulate, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong planning and time management skills coupled with sound judgment.
  • Able to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
