NATURE AND SCOPE




The Dietary Support position plays a vital role in supporting the overall well-being of clients by assisting with the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and food safety standards. Working under the supervision of the Dietary Manager (or designate), this role contributes to a safe, respectful, and client-focused environment by ensuring meals are prepared in a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen setting. Dietary Support is responsible for meeting the diverse dietary needs of clients while maintaining high standards of sanitation, safety, and professionalism in a healthcare setting.

Assists the Dietary Manager with preparing menus. Assists with food orders, receiving items, and managing inventory. Prepares food items according to set menus and recipes. Arranges and delivers completed meals. Ensures proper handling and storage of food supplies. Operates kitchen equipment including knives, mixers, ovens, and dishwashers. Maintains a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, including utensils, appliances, and dishware, following health regulations. Keeps kitchen equipment safe and clean. Sweeps and mops floors; maintains clean preparation, eating, and dining areas. Monitors food quality and freshness, reporting concerns to the Dietary Manager. Supports special dietary needs by following instructions and monitoring allergies and restrictions to prevent cross-contamination. Participates in training related to food safety, equipment use, and customer service. Provides respectful service to clients and visitors during meal times. Attends staff meetings and workshops. Demonstrates effective organizational skills and time management. Adheres to waste reduction practices and assists with recycling and composting initiatives. Follows kitchen safety protocols, including proper lifting and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS



High School Diploma or GED with related experience preferred. Food Safety Level One; Level Two would be considered an asset. Demonstrated knowledge of food handling health standards. Experience in a commercial kitchen is an asset. Ability to prioritize, plan and manage time. Integrity, flexibility and a quality assurance to safety. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Will be required to obtain a Criminal record Check with Vulnerable sector check upon hiring and every 2 years of employment.
* All employees are required to complete Naloxone training, along with other mandatory trainings, within their first three months of employment
