The Cardiac Diagnostics department within SHC is currently recruiting for a full time, Diagnostic Sonographer II. Reporting to the Unit Manager of Cardiac Diagnostics and Clinics and working daily with the Diagnostic Sonographer I Team, the Diagnostics Sonographer II is responsible for the performance of various echocardiographic studies, understanding and recognizing the pathophysiology associated with these studies and reporting the resulting data. The Diagnostic II position is the Supervisory lead of the department and as such will collaborate with the team to ensure current policy, protocols and guidelines are being followed. Supervisor duties such as scheduling for the department will be done collaboratively with the UM and scheduling liaison. Maintaining practice standards and communicating through all members of the multidisciplinary team is paramount. The Supervisor will have to attend department meetings and zone wide meetings, they will support initiatives such as accreditation and ensure education among staff is up to date. The Diagnostic Sonographer will demonstrate proficiency and prioritization in performing and assisting with Echocardiography studies including: Transthoracic Echocardiograms, Transesophageal Echocardiograms, Pericardiocentesis, Stress Testing, Contrast studies and supporting learners including sonography student or physician learners. The Diagnostic Sonographer is an essential part of the healthcare team, the candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills, demonstrate ability to clearly communicate and consistently execute attention to detail in work performance. The successful candidate will understand and comply with legal requirements of licensure, the Health Professions Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Health Information Act and other relevant legislation.

As a Diagnostic Sonographer II, you will coordinate the daily operations of the service area. This includes organizing and coordinating all technical and daily work activities for your team of Diagnostic Sonographer Is and other health care providers, ensuring that ultrasound services are available and operating at an optimum level. In addition, you will handle patient and staff complaints and problems related to services, maintain quality assurance and quality control programs for the area, assist in research, development, maintenance and evaluation of Sonography programs and services and assist in the development of policies, procedures and guidelines.
