Job Description


The Dalhousie Department of Diagnostic Radiology is committed to pursuing excellence in education, serving and engaging society and research, all while fostering a supportive and collegial environment. Reporting to the District Chief/Head, the Diagnostic Radiology Education Leader will provide strategic and operational leadership for the educational programs in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, developing and managing innovative programs and services to support university, department, district and inter-provincial educational goals.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily educational operations of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology. Review, innovate, monitor and manage a system for evaluation of residents, students, fellows, resident rotations, and other components of the educational programs.
  • Implement evaluation strategies and develop annual program review framework; monitor performance of methods on an annual basis and recommend ongoing adjustments to strategies. Annually produce evaluation reports.
  • Actively seek out opportunities for advancement of the department\'s education mission. Promote and encourage learner and preceptor participation in all Diagnostic Radiology Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) and Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) educational activities.
  • Oversee the PGME and UGME placement process for resident and medical student Diagnostic Radiology electives. Oversee and manage the Department\'s involvement in the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) Program.
  • Manage administrative staff associated with the educational programs. Oversee the academic department\'s communications portfolio including development, production and distribution of internal and external communication.
NoteDue to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person at the Victoria General Hospital Site.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field plus approximately three to five years related experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Experience in an educational leadership capacity, creating and implementing strategic plans, developing and overseeing program evaluation and trainee assessment, and educational administrative, financial and human resource matters.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills, including demonstrated experience in building a collaborative working environment between multiple stakeholders and acting as the key liaison between these stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-changing, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Excellent decision-making and judgment skills.
  • Experience with MS Office applications, Outlook, website management and database management.
Assets
  • A graduate degree in adult education or medical education.
  • Additional qualifications related to strategic planning and management.
  • Experience in a university and/or health care setting.
