Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Job Description


In this role you will report to the Manager of Medical Imaging. Our ultrasound department is well-appointed with the latest technology. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer performs all ultrasound procedures prescribed by physicians and radiologists, while documenting high quality images. Other duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist radiologists and surgeons in the performance of ultrasound-related special procedures
  • Supervise student technologists during clinical placements
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained in good working condition
  • Liaise with booking staff and patient units as required
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • Graduate from a recognized accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Registered in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
Experience
  • Experience demonstrating clinical competency in all aspects of ultrasound procedures required.
  • Experience in performing general, abdominal, obstetric, gynaecological, small parts and paediatric ultrasound examinations required.
  • MSK experience is an asset
  • IPS certification is preferred

  • Must have experience or be willing to train in vascular ultrasound
Unless otherwise stated applicants must have a minimum educational requirement of Grade 12 or equivalent and must demonstrate proven workplace excellence through commitment to strong job performance and attendance.

Therefore, depending on the program for which you are applying, it may be an expectation that you are available to work week days and weekends, as well as all shifts - days, evenings, and nights.
