The Department of Pathology and Microbiology, Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island, invites applicants for a contract position in anatomic pathology. This position is approximately 0.60 FTE prorated to a 6-month term, or 15 full-time work weeks scheduled between January 5, 2026, and July 2, 2026. Ideally, most work will be scheduled between January and April 2026.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate's primary responsibilities will include necropsy and biopsy duty on specimens/samples submitted to the AVC Diagnostic Service Laboratory, clinical teaching of senior veterinary students in anatomic pathology, and participating in the supervision of pathology residents. The clients of the AVC Diagnostic Service Laboratory include the AVC Teaching Hospital, researchers, and private practitioners in the four Atlantic Canadian Provinces. The successful candidate will work with four American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) board-certified anatomic pathologists.
The AVC is located on the campus of UPEI in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (PEI). Qualifications:
Applicants must have a DVM (or equivalent) degree, experience in anatomic pathology, and be eligible for licensure with the Prince Edward Island Veterinary Medical Association. Clinical experience and ACVP board certification are assets, but board-eligible individuals will be considered. Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience. This appointment is subject to budgetary approval.
