Reporting to the Director of Community Living & Assisted Services and the Community Living Team Leads, the
Developmental Services Worker (DSW)
is an integral part of the team at
Harbour Landing Village
, a licensed group home facility regulated by the Ministry of Social Services (Community Living Service Delivery - CLSD).
The DSW is responsible for delivering
compassionate, person-centered care
to young adults with intellectual and physical disabilities in a
safe, inclusive, and engaging
home environment.

flexibility in scheduling

3. Key Responsibilities
Resident Support
Provide direct support to young adults based on their personal care and support plans.
Focus on individual goals, preferences, and needs to promote independence and well-being.
Monitor health concerns, administer medications as required, and respond appropriately in emergencies.
Follow individualized behavioural protocols to deliver effective and respectful mental health and behavioural support.
Maintain a nurturing, inclusive, and safe atmosphere for all residents.
Daily Living & Engagement
Support daily living activities, including meal preparation, medication management, and maintaining a clean home environment.
Plan, organize, and engage residents in meaningful leisure and recreational activities that encourage skill development and social connection.
Accompany and participate in activities such as swimming, community outings, and social events.
Communication & Collaboration
Communicate effectively with residents' families, management, and external service providers.
Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing training to uphold best practices.
Complete documentation accurately and on time, reporting any changes or incidents promptly.
Additional Duties (as Assigned)
May be scheduled as an
Assisted Services Coordinator
on an as-needed basis, including:
Supporting
Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
-- personal hygiene, grooming, toileting, mobility, and safe transfers.
Assisting with
Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs)
-- medication assistance, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and transportation to appointments.
Encouraging participation in physical and cognitive activities to promote health and independence.
Providing companionship, emotional support, and social engagement.
Maintaining accurate daily documentation and ensuring client safety and emergency readiness.

Experience working in the vulnerable sector
Experience with tube feeding (asset)
Certified in Transfers, Lifts, and Repositioning (TLR)
Valid First Aid and CPR certification
