In 2024, the Manitoba government established the MMIWG2S+ Healing and Empowerment Endowment Fund, the first foundational initiative of Mino'Ayaawag Ikwewag: All Women Doing Well, Manitoba's provincial strategy to support the safety, protection and empowerment of Indigenous women, girls, 2Spirit and gender-diverse relatives. The Development Officer's work will help to increase the funding available annually to support MMIWG2S+ families and communities. This will in turn help the Manitoba government to support the healing and empowerment of MMIWG2S+ families and further implement the MMIWG2S+ Calls for Justice, as well as achieve the goals set out in the Mino'Ayaawag Ikwewag Provincial Strategy.


Conditions of Employment:


Must be legally entitled to work in Canada Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Ability to work overtime and travel throughout the province (may include overnights) License and access to a reliable vehicle are an asset

Qualifications:


Essential:


Bachelor's degree in social sciences, public administration, business administration, communications, or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Minimum three years of fundraising experience in a not-for-profit setting. Proven success with partnership prospecting, relations, stewardship and recognition. Experience managing complex projects with specific targets. High level of political acumen, judgment, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience working with, or thorough knowledge of, Indigenous organizations and issues affecting Indigenous peoples, and extensive knowledge and understanding of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, and the 231 Calls to Justice.

Duties:


The Development Officer will lead the creation and implementation of a strategy to grow the endowment fund to increase the funding available to support MMIWG2S+ families. The Development Officer will identify, engage and steward relationships with potential and existing external partners and may engage with the Matriarch Circle to further guide their work. The Development Officer will engage with the general public on the endowment fund and will be responsible for identifying and implementing innovative approaches to increasing the funding available in perpetuity to support MMIWG2S+ families. The Development Officer's work is guided by the Mino'Ayaawag Ikwewag Provincial Strategy, the National Inquiry on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Calls for Justice, and the terms of the agreement with the Winnipeg Foundation.
