DMC is currently looking for

Development Miners - Bolter/Jumbo Operator

, to join our team on a contract basis, based at

Cadomin Mine site in Alberta

. This will be a fly in/fly out (FIFO) position on a 14 days on/14 days off schedule. The worker will be required to work both day and night shifts, that will be 12 hours in duration.


Reporting to the Supervisor, the Development Miner - Bolter/Jumbo Operator, will have key involvement in activities related to drilling, blasting, operating mining machinery, and performing related duties to complete excavation works at the Cadomin Project. The scope will involve the development of an underground mine with multiple heading sizes, the largest being 13.7m x 7.6m. The scope includes underground construction, where the Development Miner - Bolter/Jumbo Operator may be required to assist with the works related to constructing an underground shop, ventilation systems, dump hopper and a sump. Further underground scope includes the construction of passageways to facilitate mining, scaling loose rock, drilling, loading and blasting, installing ground support (resin rebar/Swellex, split sets, screen handling), ensuring that the drilling patterns follow the mining plans in a safe manner, and ensuring equipment is inspected and maintained properly in line with DMC procedures and standards.

Responsibilities:



Set up and operate drills and drilling machines to produce a designated pattern of blasting holes and installation of ground support. Prior experience using the drills used on the Project would be beneficial:

o Jumbo drills: Sandvik DT922.


o Bolter: Sandvik DS512i.

Set up and operate the jumbos and bolter in a safe way and effective position to allow for full productivity during the shift. The work will be completed between shifts and a proper handover/set up must be ensured for the following shift. Complete pre-start inspections on equipment and report to the supervisor/maintenance team any issues that need to be rectified. The pre-start logs will be signed off and handed to the supervisors for filing. Ability to be trained and mentor/coach fellow workers as required to maximize efficiency of the crews. Must have a proactive approach and share feedback to the site team for any potential improvements/inefficiencies. The workers will interface with the site Engineering team frequently for cycle optimizations. Involvement in the development of methodologies and reviewing of safe systems of work. The opportunity to be a part of the Joint Health and Safety Committee will be available. Load explosives, set fuses, and detonate explosives to produce desired blasting patterns and rock fragmentation underground and at surface (for portal construction). Operate additional equipment as required such as 12-yard LHDs, 50te haul trucks and excavator scalers. Completion of reports/small summaries of the works completed in a shift to allow for data collection and supervisor shift report completion. Perform duties required to support the mining advance, such as scaling loose rock from walls, drilling and installing rock bolts, extending and installing air and water pipes, operating ore loading machinery and constructing timber supports and cribbing if required. Ensures that all employees in the workplace take responsibility for aspects of Occupational Health and Safety, over which they have control, including adherence to all Occupational Health and Safety requirements applicable to DMC Mining Services. Must be able to read engineering drawings (related to the scope only) and understand the ground support management plan. Must have accountability for the work performed and ensure ground support and development holes are completed to the highest quality and will pass audits/ inspections. Usage of tooling associated with the scope, including (but not limited to), drills, grinders, The worker may be around explosives and may be subject to security checks. Takes responsibility for aspects of occupational health and safety, and environmental matters, over which the individual has control, including adherence to all requirements applicable to DMC. Medical and drug testing will form part of the pre-employment process. Other related duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:



Must have Ontario Basic Underground Common Core - 770010 program (U0000-U0001-U0002-U0012).

o Required specialty module(s) U0018-Operate Mechanized Rock Bolter.

Minimum five (5) years of experience as an underground development miner. Experience using the equipment noted, or similar models, is preferred.
