Under the supervision of the Director of KO eHealth, the KO eHealth Development Coordinator takes the lead in expanding KO eHealth projects and developing new projects to integrate eHealth applications into the routine delivery of health care in the district. As Development Coordinator, s/he conducts regular visits to First Nation communities and assists with expansion of the program based on KO eHealth' yearly fiscal budget. S/he promotes projects through partnership development, visits communities to conduct needs assessments, and plans, launches and manages pilot projects. Along with partners, s/he evaluates pilot projects and recommends roll-out to the district. The Development Coordinator aids by helping management with assessments of needs, funding proposals, policies and procedures, pilot projects, roll-out, data collection and report-writing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate and guide the development of KO eHealth projects.
Assumes the role of Teleophthalmology nurse and expert for First Nation communities in providing Teleophthalmology services.
+ Through needs assessment, expands the Teleophthalmology service in the district.
+ Visits communities every 1-2 years for continuing support and retinal screening working in collaboration with the local community and receiving directions from the Clinical Services Coordinator. Ensure regular diabetes screening for all community members every 1-2 years.
+ Conducts retinal screenings, uploads images, and forwards them to the ophthalmologist. Facilitates community education regarding retinal health.
+ Maintains good records and writes year-end reports on the program. Serves as the Teledermatology nurse in collaboration with KO eHealth Informatics Educator, actively promoting the initiative to district stakeholders through strategic communication and partnership development.
+ Conducts community visits to gather data and perform needs assessments that inform the development of Teledermatology services.
+ Oversee the annual expansion of the service based on rollout recommendations and emerging needs.
+ Maintains comprehensive records and prepares detailed year-end reports on program outcomes and progress. Collaborates with KO eHealth management, communities, healthcare professionals, and funders to support the implementation of various KO eHealth initiatives.
+ Provides assistance with needs assessments, development of funding proposals, creation of policies and procedures, pilot project implementation, service roll-out, data collection, and report writing.
Participates in training and updating activities to maintain and improve knowledge and skill level.
Receives initial and ongoing training as needed and as available and provides training as necessary to community staff

Actively participates in regular KO eHealth staff meetings, committees, and working groups as needed.
Attends all scheduled First Nation Advisory meetings.
Collaborates with KO eHealth management and staff to support the delivery of high-quality KO eHealth services.
Undertakes special projects and research assignments as delegated by the Clinical Services Coordinator.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

Diploma or Degree in Nursing with current Registration with College of Nurses of Ontario
Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, and of the geographical and health care challenges of First Nations in the Sioux Lookout district
Ability to speak Cree, Oji-Cree or Ojibway and experience working with First Nations communities an asset
Familiarity with the health system and health care providers in the district. Travel to remote communities required
Once trained, comfortable with retinal screening, uploading pictures and sending to receiving ophthalmologist
Strong oral, written and interpersonal communications skills, including report and proposal writing
Proficiency in computer programs such as M/S Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the use of email; ability to learn communications technology and systems software quickly
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a team
Ability to adapt effectively to changes in workload
Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and ability to work within a budget
Demonstrated ability to treat confidential information in mature and professional manner
