Job Description


ERM is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Desktop Publisher to join our consulting firm in one of our Canadian offices: Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Saskatoon or Smithers. As part of ERM\xe2\x80\x99s publishing team, this role will provide professional desktop publishing services to support our Partners and Project Managers throughout the project life cycle by producing high-quality client deliverables and proposals.The successful candidate will be an extremely organized professional who applies self-initiative, a positive team attitude, and technical aptitude and creativity to consistently contribute to the success of our programs. In addition, the ability to relate well with diverse groups and demonstrate strong verbal, visual, and written communications is essential.RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver document formatting services to enable ERM to present complex and lengthy technical materials to clients in appropriate formats that meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Scope project work from a publishing request and communicate any timeline issues with the author and project team, requesting assistance if necessary.
  • Provide desktop publishing and production support for large complex proposals.
  • Collaborate with internal clients on layout, readability and branding, and recommend a course of action that combines best practices with company objectives.
  • Provide formatting of highly complex documents using MS Word to ensure compliance with both internal and client requirements and specifications.
  • Uphold quality standards related to accuracy, color, disclosures/captions, templates, proofreading, consistency and brand guidelines.
  • Integrate graphic elements to produce uniform, high-quality layouts aligned with corporate brand standards and templates.
  • Create and modify relevant materials according to Scope of Work requirements to provide on-time, quality project related products.
  • Interact with other functional groups to provide appropriate service levels, make technical edits, and address issues and concerns to projects according to standard desktop publishing guidelines.
  • Present ideas, concepts, and information effectively and clearly through verbal and written communication; actively listen and confidently communicate with various audiences, responding quickly and effectively to questions.
  • Maintain/track document configuration control; Format, edit and layout all proposal documents throughout the proposal cycle.
  • Support multiple proposals, documents, and other tasks simultaneously, taking on high volume level of work and tight timeframes, while effectively prioritizing tasks with team to ensure all delivery dates are met as required by internal customers.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 2 to 10 years of experience in the application of essential desktop publishing skills in a relevant work environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word at an expert level required.
  • Intermediate (or higher) proficiency level in Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat Professional and Illustrator.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional customer-service approach and organizational, analytical, and project/time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, deadline-driven business environment.
  • Consistently exhibits a high degree of accuracy and an eye for detail when performing tasks.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure and juggle multiple deadlines with minimal direction
  • High degree of proven personal initiative with the ability to work collaboratively as a team player, supporting team members with work commitments.
  • Patient, creative, dependable, positive attitude and flexible to changes in schedule
  • Flexibility to work overtime and outside normal office hours on occasion, when required for project delivery.
For the Desktop Publisher position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $55,320 \xe2\x80\x93 $64,790 CAD. An employee\xe2\x80\x99s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above.
