The opportunity: The Faculty of Arts is looking for a Designer. As a member of the Faculty of Arts Communications Team, this position generates communications for students, staff, academic departments and programs within the Faculty, alumni, community and the university as a whole through many different platforms (print, digital, web), to positively impact awareness, recruitment, internal and external engagement, event attendance and research visibility. The qualifications and experience we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for:
  • Completion of a formal training program in graphic design or marketing is required.
  • GDC Designation preferred.
  • Four-year directly related progressive experience including a minimum 1 year experience in print and digital graphic design required.
  • Experience working with a content management system required including experience in building pages and an understanding of UX and UI.
  • Experience with content creation and planning for social media required.
  • Experience with video and photography equipment and software preferred.
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Expert knowledge of website content management systems, (Drupal, SharePoint, and WordPress) and web development/coding (HTML, CSS, etc.) required.
  • Expert knowledge of graphics/publishing software including Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop), and Acrobat Pro required.
  • Expert knowledge of social media platforms required.
  • Expert knowledge of direct email packages, event management software and survey software preferred.
  • Strong networking and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to deal effectively with multiple audiences (i.e., staff, students, academics, and members of the community) required.
  • Must be highly organized and efficient in a fast pace and diverse environment required.
  • Experience with the application of branding guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and creativity is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Experience using video equipment and software is preferred.
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office required.
  • Ability to effectively work within a team is an asset.
  • Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
