Job Description

Vistech Design and Construction is looking for Fibre, Copper, and Coax designers, to apply to our design group. Candidates would be responsible for the creation of telecommunication design concepts and preparing detailed digital design and construction drawings for the permitting team, client, and construction services.

This is position is Hybrid, you will be expected in to work from the office at least 2 full days per week, unless otherwise discussed. Our office is in Vaughan and requires close interaction with designers, managers, and customers to ensure the timely and accurate completion of project cycles.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Scheduling and tracking of large volumes of design / engineering projects. Using FTT(x) concepts and micro conduit design techniques, prepare digital design packages that can be used for field survey and permits creation. Be responsible for all phases of Designs including HLD, Permit package (buried or Aerial), Splice packages / work plans, and Construction plans. Provide direction to field and permitting leads for any special permit requirements, which may include buried and aerial applications, railways, creek crossings, and pipeline crossings. Respect and follow municipal design guidelines for different municipalities which will vary based on your project location. Follow customer provided design guidelines and ensure construction standards are maintained. Review and discuss construction plans and design with construction team if required. Attend site meetings or Survey if required. Understand and utilize existing parcel data in your designs to maintain a standard offset from property line, or centreline of road. Interpret collected field data and ensure existing site conditions do not interfere with your designs. Update and revised designs according to existing site conditions. Designs may include a mix of Plow, HDD, open trench, bridge attachments, and aerial 3rd party attachments. QC your peers design and construction plans. Provide knowledge and training to junior staff if required. QC permit drawings. Ensure Design and Construction packages are completed by appropriate deadlines. Create and validate detailed Bill of material and splice logs/ Splice package Assist in obtaining of Road Occupancy Permits. Perform other tasks as requested by your manager.

QUALIFICATIONS



3-5 Years of Telecommunication design experience is mandatory. Must be able to QC design and permit plans based on client's standard Knowledge of SpidaCalc and Quickpole is a bonus but not required. Diploma in Architectural Technology, or a Civil or Electrical Engineering program is preferred Advanced user of AutoCAD 2D, efficient use of Paper Space / Model Space. Familiar with ArcGIS and GIS related mapping Familiar with Telecommunications Copper, Coax and Fibre design and permitting. Experience with Specialty crossing designs, and structures design would be an asset. Experience in detailed planning, design of OSP networks for various types of projects. Experience with Network X or SpatialNet would be an asset. Strong, communication, interpersonal, problem solving and multi-tasking skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Capable of grasping new concepts easily. Well organized. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Fluent in the English language, both written and oral
