Here\xe2\x80\x99s what you will do as a Design Specifier:
As Design Specifier, you will work closely with our partners and clients to provide detailed design specifications, proposals and design solutions to enhance our client\xe2\x80\x99s work environment.
  • Work closely with our sales team to understand project needs, assess sites, and develop design proposals;
  • Track design hours, manage project timelines, and prepare presentation materials for clients;
  • Create 2D/3D furniture layouts, space plans, and installation drawings using CAD and design software;
  • Work with design team to create block plans showing adjacencies, provide programming reports and needs analysis reports;
  • Prepare presentation drawings and full-scale renderings for sales team \xe2\x80\x93 our clients expect to see what their space will look like before they place an order;
  • Produce installation drawings for our install team with project specific notes and on-site information;
  • Review specifications, conduct on-site furniture inventory, and verify electrical/cabling requirements for installations;
  • Guide clients in selecting finishes, furniture, and layouts, and prepare presentation materials;
  • Assist with preparing responses for tenders and Request for Proposals (RFP\xe2\x80\x99s)
  • Identify product deficiencies and prepare warranty claims;
  • Organize and maintain resource library to keep product literature, fabrics and finishes up to date and complete;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, manage the sample library, and stay current on new products;
  • Explore new product lines, train the design team, and contribute to the team\'s growth
  • Special projects assigned by the Company for the overall benefit of Open Mind Interiors.
Here\xe2\x80\x99s what you\xe2\x80\x99ll need to be successful:
  • Diploma or degree in Design or Architecture or relevant field;
  • 2-4 years\' experience in a similar role preferred. Experience with contractors and design-build firms is an asset;
  • Working knowledge of Ontario Building Code and ADA accessibility guidelines an asset;
  • Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Project Matrix, CET Designer) and rendering software (SketchUp, Revit) and MS Office Suite is required;
  • Ability to interpret architectural documents and translate client needs into design solutions;
  • Ability to verbally illustrate, rationalize and present design ideas and solutions;
  • Project management abilities to lead projects and liaise between clients, sales, and partners;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively present concepts to clients, sales teams, and partners;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines and changing priorities;
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a team-oriented mindset and excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Occasional travel required (i.e. client visits, tradeshows).
