The Design Coordinator will take ownership of an approved Development Permit Package, and will see that project through the entire Building Permit and Issued for Construction Stages, ensuring that the design intent presented by the Development Department is adhered to. This role will be responsible for engineering plan review and associated correspondence. This role will also provide design services for the project teams throughout construction, including shop drawing review, RFI and Site Instruction design changes. The Design Coordinator should be innovative, creative and a team player who is able to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Responsibilities:
Develop and prepare architectural designs based on approved Development Permit Packages
Collaborate with external engineering consultants, and ensure all disciplines are coordinated effectively to eliminate conflicts and omissions
Provide a Building Permit package to the Design Services Manager for review, before submitting to the development team for submittal
Coordinate all city comments on the building permit approval package, and ensure all items are addressed and coordinated with all consultants
Review final coordination sets from the consultants ensuring compliance before requesting IFC drawing issuance
Manage the document storage and versioning in provided software
Review shop drawing submittals and ensure the relevant consultants provide their stamps before releasing to the project team
Utilize BIM to analyze potential design solutions for building services clashes
Efficiently operate computer-assisted design and other drafting tools such as Revit
Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and local bylaws
Ensure clients\xe2\x80\x99 needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner
Maintain current knowledge of national and provincial building codes
Track deliverables to ensure timelines are met, and provide regular updates to the Design Services Manager
Requirements:
Minimum post-secondary diploma in drafting, architecture or equivalent
Minimum 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working with REVIT
Minimum 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 working experience in Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Minimum 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with design for residential construction
Experience with multifamily wood frame construction preferred
Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking and time management techniques
