Purpose:
The Design Centre Consultant provides the Design Centre with customer relationship management, interior design and sales services while working toward customer satisfaction, financial results, and employee satisfaction. We are looking for a talented, sales driven, Design Consultant that will provide exceptional service for our Low Rise residential homeowners.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Introduces homeowners to Minto Design Centre, including services offered, design process and objectives;
Guides homeowners through their structural, framing and finishing options for their new home;
Sales and customer service focused with excellent knowledge of new home construction;
Maintains notes and files throughout the design process to ensure consistent service delivery;
Able to work in an environment with tight deadlines;
Maximizes revenue & profit potential while respecting a purchaser's entitlement to service excellence regardless of their ability or choice to purchase optional upgrades;
Provide recommendations on new Design Centre offerings based off of homeowner feedback and current market trends;
Coordinates the scheduling of purchaser appointments and the selection of interior fixtures, fittings and finishes within the schedule determined by internal departments;
Works with internal parties to obtain or confirm pricing of optional upgrades;
Presents and finalizes completed home interior solutions once all materials and pricing have been obtained;
Finalizes all necessary documentation at time of sign-off and secure payments as required;
Provides relevant parties with actionable drawings and written instructions for the construction of individual homes with modifications or special features;
Liaises with trades and construction teams for production issues, problems, discontinued products, errors and find solutions that may or may not involve the purchaser;
Selects interior finishes with Sales for unsold inventory homes prior to cut-off dates;
Completes onsite inspections when required;
Proposes design and finishing solutions to achieve a homeowner's objectives, including lifestyle needs assessment and budget while acting as a homeowner's advisor when necessary;
Supply's project management with additional detail drawings and clarification of design specifications as required throughout construction;
Ability to coordinate and speak with trades and suppliers
Promotes and respects the Minto brand and the company's mission, values, and code of conduct;
Other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as requested by management.
Education:
A College Diploma or Interior Design Degree or Diploma is an asset or relevant education
Experience:
A minimum two (2) years of relevant experience working in new home construction
Specialized Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Polished and professional in manner and appearance
Excellent knowledge of new home construction
Consultative sales training and experience
Knowledge of and experience with a broad range of design styles
Experience specifying materials for interiors to meet specific client criteria
Budget planning
AutoCAD drafting capabilities, including space planning and detail drawing
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Outlook
Knowledge of Newstar DSM is an asset
Ability to read design plans and construction drawings
Patience when dealing with customers
Ability to work under stress
Detailed oriented
Able to maintain multiple projects and tasks at once
Communication skills (listening, verbal and written)
Customer service focused
