The Design Center Consultant plays a vital role in facilitating the interior selection process for clients purchasing new homes. Reporting to the Design Center Manager, this position involves guiding clients through the selection of products and finishes that align with their preferences, needs, and budget constraints. The consultant assists clients in making informed decisions, recommends suitable options, and ensures exceptional customer satisfaction throughout the process. Supplier visits may be required based on individual client files. Effective communication and coordination with inter-office departments, field staff, and clients are essential for success in this role. The Design Center Consultant must possess strong communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and proficiency in various aspects of interior design. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks is crucial.




Primary Responsibilities:



Guide clients through the interior selection process for their new homes, understanding their specific needs, preferences, and budget constraints. Recommend suitable products and finishes based on client requirements, ensuring alignment with their aesthetic preferences and budgetary considerations. Assist clients in making informed decisions by providing expert advice on interior design options, including materials, colors, textures, and finishes. Ensure accurate documentation and entry of interior selections into the system, including detailed descriptions, quantities, and pricing information. Perform material take-offs for upgrades, such as tile, hardwood, carpet, and countertop selections, ensuring accurate estimation and ordering. Manage efficient communication between clients, internal departments, field staff, and suppliers, ensuring timely updates and resolution of queries. Review all documents related to interior selections for accuracy before finalizing and presenting them to clients for approval. Attend preview nights as required to assist new and prospective clients through the design studio, showcasing available options and answering queries. Collaborate closely with the design center team and other relevant departments, sharing insights and coordinating efforts to enhance the customer experience. Provide ongoing support and assistance to clients throughout the design process, addressing any concerns or inquiries promptly and professionally. Perform various administrative tasks as needed, including scheduling appointments, organizing client files, and maintaining documentation records. Assist in selecting and arranging products to display in the design studio, ensuring an attractive and functional presentation of available options. Stay updated on current trends, products, and industry developments in interior design through ongoing education and training opportunities. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, fostering trust and loyalty through exceptional service and personalized attention.



Qualifications:



Bachelor's Degree or College Certificate in Interior Design. Previous interior design experience is preferred. Previous sales experience is an asset. Knowledge of current trends and products in interior design. Ability to exercise sound judgment and prioritize tasks effectively. Experience with cabinet design is beneficial. Proven track record of meeting deadlines. Familiarity with construction terminology is advantageous. Ability to read blueprints is required. Strong ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Action-oriented with the ability to meet critical timelines. Superior organizational and detail-oriented skills. Flexibility to work with a variable schedule.
