The Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Department services the communities of Armstrong (urban) and Spallumcheen (rural) which are located in the beautiful North Okanagan valley. We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team in the capacity of
Deputy Fire Chief - Training Officer / Operations
to help lead our paid-on call department of approximately 35 firefighters.
As an employee of the City of Armstrong, this exempt position is full-time permanent and includes a comprehensive benefits package and competitive salary that is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Deputy Fire Chief - Training Officer / Operations reports to the Fire Chief and is responsible for formulating, implementing and administrating the training program to all fire department personnel. In the absence of the Fire Chief, this position will be required to carry out those duties. This position is operational and will be expected to respond to emergency calls as well as assist with inspections and fire safety plan review.
The position will be of interest to a confident fire professional who has proven leadership abilities, well developed organization skills, effective communication and public relation skills. We are seeking a candidate with a minimum of Grade 12 education along with a minimum of 10 years firefighting experience including five (5) years at a senior fire command level.
The salary range is up to $90,000 (currently under review) and the actual salary will be negotiated dependent on experience and qualifications. The complete job description is posted on the City's website
