This role is full-time and reports to the Store Manager.We are looking for a strong leader who has a passion for fresh food and who can efficiently oversee the daily operations of the Meat Department in terms of staffing, sales, customer service, merchandising, and product quality.Job Duties and Responsibilities:\xc2\xb7 Provide supervision to department staff to ensure quality customer service, must be able todelegate, train, develop staff and follow-up.\xc2\xb7 Maximize sales and gross profit through effective and creative merchandising\xc2\xb7 Maintain department inventory by placing product orders regularly while adhering to departmental budgets\xc2\xb7 Recruit, hire, train, and mentor staff members\xc2\xb7 Create the weekly department work schedule\xc2\xb7 Cut, trim, debone and prepare standard cuts of meat according to specifications using knives and power tools\xc2\xb7 Wrap and package prepared meats\xc2\xb7 Prepare special cuts and orders as per customer requests\xc2\xb7 Ensure all prepared items are properly labeled, covered and rotated\xc2\xb7 Present a neat, fresh, and well-merchandised department\xc2\xb7 Ensure the proper set up of racks, tables, coolers, backroom areas\xc2\xb7 Handle customer inquiries, requests and complaints in a prompt, polite and effective manner\xc2\xb7 Keep all equipment clean, well maintained and fully operational\xc2\xb7 Comply with the Company\xe2\x80\x99s established Health and Safety and Food Safety policies and ensure that staff members are also adhering to these policies\xc2\xb7 Responsible for ensuring accuracy of store signage with regards to pricing\xc2\xb7 Liaise with the store manager, department heads and meat department staff to address any concerns, discuss upcoming ads / promotions, cross merchandising, etcSkills and Qualifications:\xc2\xb7 Previous, relevant meat department experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity\xc2\xb7 Proven ability to process a variety of meat cuts\xc2\xb7 Able to lead a team in an enthusiastic and positive manner\xc2\xb7 Superb customer service skills with a desire to provide customers with a great shopping experience\xc2\xb7 Exceptional leadership and organizational skills\xc2\xb7 Outstanding communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of health and safety legislation, policies and practices\xc2\xb7 Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure\xc2\xb7 Able to maintain a professional demeanor under stressful situations\xc2\xb7 Experience in effective merchandising that drives sales\xc2\xb7 Have experience ordering and maintaining department stock, forecasting and merchandising.\xc2\xb7 Flexibility to work a variety of hours which include days, evenings, weekends and stat holidaysWork Conditions and Physical Capabilities\xc2\xb7 Ability to perform physically demanding, repetitive physical tasks for extended periods of time\xc2\xb7 Job requires manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination\xc2\xb7 Walking and standing for extended periods including bending, twisting, crouching and kneeling at times\xc2\xb7 Physical ability to stand, lift, and handle up to 50 pounds on a regular basis\xc2\xb7 Cold environment..
