Department Manager

to lead our Deli Department in our Food Store in

What you'll do:

Reporting to the Store Manager, the Department Manager - Deli is responsible for:


Demonstrating day-to-day behaviours and actions that align with and strengthen the Co-operative's vision, mission, values, brand, and focus on safety. Leading the deli department team by setting goals, coaching, training, and motivating staff to achieve operational excellence. Preparing, administering, and achieving budgeted goals related to pricing, sales, margin, expenses, and inventory. Ensuring compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health standards, including temperature and sanitation logs. Overseeing the order, receipt, inspection, and storage of raw materials and supplies used in deli production. Displaying and pricing deli products, assisting customers with special orders, and ensuring quality and freshness standards are met. Supporting internal pricing, promotions, and product policies in response to local market needs and competition. Maintaining high levels of customer service and resolving complaints efficiently. Performing general housekeeping duties and monitoring refrigeration temperatures. Following Fresh Item Management and production sheet practices. Performing other duties as assigned.

Who you are:

You have a Grade 12 education or equivalent. You bring 3+ years of relevant customer service experience, with 1+ year in a leadership role preferred. You have 3+ years of relevant deli or bakery experience preferred. You're action-oriented, customer-focused, and work well with other team members. You're honest and trustworthy, results-driven, and strive to be the best in what you do. You believe in building relationships and collaborating to deliver solutions that matter most. You recognize the value that different perspectives bring to meet shared objectives.
