Kamloops Pediatric Dentistry specializes in oral care and dental surgery for children. We are looking for a full-time Receptionist to support our practice for a maternity leave position. The ideal candidate will be able to create a comforting environment for children of all ages and all abilities, and their families, as they come in for care.

Job Summary



The

Receptionist

plays an important role in the multi-operatory pediatric clinic's daily operations by providing exceptional patient service to pediatric patients and their families. This position schedules appointments, answer patients calls, maintains professional, effective, and efficient processes and procedures to support the clinic, submitting insurance claims and takes payments for services.

Key Responsibilities



1. Greets patients and families; creates a comfortable environment in the reception area for children and their guardians.

2. Ensures the waiting and reception area is clean and organized.

3. Registers new patients in accordance with office protocols. Assists guardians with completion of medical forms and documents such as patient medical history, personal information and insurance information. Informs patient's guardians of office procedures and policies, verifies and updates patient information.

4. Enters patient information into Macpractice, maintains and manages patient records in compliance with privacy and security requirements.

5. Provides information on financial plan options, submits preauthorizations and insurance claims, takes payments for services, prepares and mails billing statements.

6. Schedules and books appointments, places reminder and follow up calls in accordance with the practice's procedures and guidelines; assists with booking last minute patient appointments when cancellations and no-shows occur to ensure days are booked appropriately.

7. Arranges referrals to other medical specialists as required.

8. Dispatches lab work in accordance with procedures.

9. Provides general administration support such as preparing correspondence, updating patient education materials, setting up procedures, answering phone calls, sort and distribute mail, and maintaining files.

10. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications



High school graduation, plus related courses such as Medical Office Assistant or administration courses. A minimum of two year's recent, related experience, preferably in a dental office, and/or health care setting.

An equivalent combination of education, skills and experience may be considered.

Skills and Abilities



Comfortable working with children of all abilities and needs.

Excellent pediatric patient support and service, interpersonal and relationship building skills with proven diplomacy.

Possesses high degree of compassion, patience, empathy and emotional intelligence.

Possesses high standards of professional conduct; performs quality work with the highest degree of accuracy.

Strong ethical standards and ability to safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality.

Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Proven experience with patient scheduling and booking appointments.

Experience with efficient office organization, including establishing and maintaining patient medical charts and electronic and paper files.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Able to perform multiple tasks, balance priorities and meet deadlines without close supervision. Adaptable to respond to the needs of the office and stay calm in all situations.

Takes initiative and has a high level of ambition; motivated.

Able to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

High proficiency in MacPractice, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Internet Explorer.
